The neurodivergent Christian The subjects of this book are not underserved in the Christian community - they aren’t served at all. They are the quirky people, the socially awkward, the nervous wrecks, and the ticcers. They are the neurodivergent Christians and they carry an anointing and destiny to the church body that have long been ostracized, misunderstood, and even avoided. This pattern has led to rogue Christians, churchless believers, and even church hurt and trauma. They are isolated, discouraged, underutilized, and in danger of either a superiority complex or a reject complex - outside of the appreciation, accountability, and protection of the Church body. This group needs to be seen, understood, and set loose on God’s mission just like any other believer. They deserve grace and mercy in turn because they often are first to give the same. Autistic pastor’s wife, Amanda Hebert Hughes, shares her story alongside the testimonies of other neurodivergent Christians - to explore the world of neurodiversity, treatment, gender, sexuality, worldview, strengths, and destiny - all from a biblical worldview. This evangelistic book sends a strong message of hope to a forgotten people and offers wisdom and insight to the Church who wishes to love them well.© All rights reserved. status : under contract with tyndale house publishers |
The sages said about chutzpah, “Damned is the one who has it, and damned is the one who does not.” Chutzpah makes a man into an idol. But without it, how can he change the world? Our conscious mind must know it is nothing, and the power G‑d has placed in our heart may then burst forth. Maamarei Admor Hazaken Haketzarim, p. 370; Behar-Bechukotai 5731:2 |
Good morning, all. An analogy popped into my head this morning regarding these discussions on evidence for or against the existence of God, the creator. Well, more precisely, non-creationists want to see proof for the existence of God. Even though plenty of scientific facts support the idea of a Creator. Rene Descartes' infamous quote, "I think and therefore I am," is one of the most well-known quotations worldwide. Everyone accepts this notion because we all have this in common. We think. We all have different experiences, training, and education at various levels. But I cannot prove to anyone the remembrances of a lifetime's experiences which reside in my brain. Some are conscious thoughts. Others are buried deep into my subconscious. You cannot "see" them. I cannot see them either. So, where is that proof? ...Another mystery hidden within our crinkled cortices is that out of all the brain's cells, only 10 percent are neurons; the other 90 percent are glial cells, which encapsulate and support neurons, but whose function remains largely unknown. Ultimately, it's not that we use 10 percent of our brains, merely that we only understand about 10 percent of how it functions. https://www.scientificamerican.com/.../do-people-only.../ Could it be that "we only understand about 10% of how it functions" is because the other 90% is our Soul/Spirit, for which science cannot measure? Therefore, there is no proof of its existence. And yet, we do exist. Do People Only Use 10 Percent of Their Brains? scientificamerican.com Do People Only Use 10 Percent of Their Brains? What's the matter with only exploiting a portion of our gray matter? |
Updated, April 16, 2025: NOAA has upgraded its forecasts to a G3 geomagnetic storm, with possible aurora in 17 U.S. states on Wednesday, April 16. The Northern Lights may be visible in the U.S. this week after a surge in solar activity. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center, the aurora could be seen in U.S. states Tuesday and Wednesday thanks to a G2-rated geomagnetic storm resulting from two coronal mass ejections on the sun. It comes a major meteor shower begins this week. The latest forecast is for a geomagnetic storm this week, with a “moderate” G2 geomagnetic storm striking on Wednesday, April 16, with aurora displays possible in northern U.S. states and Canada. The geomagnetic storm on May 10, 2024, which saw aurora as far south as Florida, was rated a G5 and was the most powerful since 2003. |
It has been about forty years, so it is ok to tell this story. From 1983 to 1987, I was in the Marine Corps working on the AN-TPS-32, a three-dimensional ground radar system manufactured by ITT/Gilfillan. I also worked as a field engineer with that company for a couple of years. Today, on Facebook, someone posted a picture of the Stealth Bomber. I do not know the various Stealth Bomber models or their dates of manufacture. This is what I do know. We have an ITT Gilfillan Engineer (Rick) assigned to our unit on the MCAGCC base in 29 Palms, California. Rick told me he had to go to Nevada for a few days but would return soon. A side note: Rick spent five years in Vietnam working on these radars as a non-combatant! He did not carry a weapon! When he returned from Nevada, I asked him if it had been a successful trip. Then he dropped a few interesting tidbits. He said he had spent the week in Area 51 with the "spooks" as he called them. He said they had a plane being tested that was supposed to be undetectable by any radar system. Several manufacturers were present at the site. Only the ANTPS-32 Radar was able to detect that plane! So, they had to make some design modifications to the plane. Rick was very proud of this fact. Not only that, he was able to help the U.S. develop a better design. But, also because of the performance of the ANTPS-32 radar system, which was a design from the 1950's! For you geeks out there, the system had an "Iron Core" memory module! And still used flatpacks of "and," "nand," "or,"and "nor" gates plus flip flops! |
Yeah back when I was in elementary school, they had pictures of the delta winged bomber that the Air Force Recruiter brought to show our class. It was so cool! I wanted to be a pilot for a while but my mom got furious and told me that I couldn't do that and wear glasses. Still it's a good looking plane. |
