Too spot-on, even after all these years. 2018 seems so long ago. Folks were concerned about fascism. Nowadays America is post democracy and there are those salivating over the coming theocracy that they have prayed-for for years. Few on-line, even here, will take responsibility for supporting the utter denial of basic human rights (to name, body, identity, food, shelter, due-process) for anyone they do not tolerate or respect as a fellow human being. Others are gleeful as they finger point and criminalize everything. As I learned long ago "there is justice and just us". |
I was watching T.V. when, for some strange reason, one of the commercials caught my attention: It was a company bragging about how they were "making plants taste like meat." Haven't cows been doing that forever? ![]() ![]() |
For Us Nerds ![]() Happy Square Root Day This May 5, 2025, is Square Root Day, an event that only happens nine times each century. It occurs when the day and month are both the square root of the last two digits of the year. The square root of this year, ending in 25, is five. Enjoy! |
Then, by tomorrow, when she does her next set of badge thingies, ⱲєbⱲitϚћ is 18 ![]() Just pretend you're at the beginning of a new 7-day streak...because you are! |
ⱲєbⱲitϚћ is 18 ![]() This is my 3rd try to get my 5 today. I say it's my 3rd try because I keep getting distracted and forgetting what I'm trying to do. For some reason, I keep leaving WdC to go do homework (that was, in my defense, due last Sunday). Good grief! Is it REALLY that hard to stay on task?!? (Of course, if I could stay on task, I probably would have already turned in that homework, so there's that...) Apparently. Now to find a blog and post in it. That's it, Schnujo. Just 1 last task. You can do it! I believe in you! |
![]() 15+ years. It's been a good run and I've enjoyed every minute of it but it's time to take a break. I've just bought a house in Playa del Carmen and the next 6 months will be hectic - selling my house, selling all the furniture, wading through paperwork in Spanish that I don't speak ![]() I want to say "Thank You" to all my friends (you both know who you are ![]() I'll be around a bit until the end of the month but just wanted to acknowledge the WDC community and how much you've meant to me. ![]() |
I don't find anything to complain about. I bring my own coffee, leave my coat in my car that I park on your neighbor's lawn. |
I'm coming to breakfast when Joy ![]() ![]() |

People scoffed when I posted this on November 6th: Good Morning ![]() I'll bet more than a few will rethink their position now. |

I
remember watching Connie Francis on the Ed Sullivan show. For some reason, both my mother and my grandmother liked her. I don't know how many times she appeared on the show, but I am positive I was made to watch every one of them.
This doesn't mean that it was a bad experience, although I am saddened by the comparison to today's singers. During the Cold War/Social Revolution era, it was extremely rare for a song to air on the radio or TV without the viewer being able to recognize the singer by their singing style or voice alone. Connie Francis was one of those singers!
Back then, the promoters looked for singers with unique voices and styles, compared to today's artists, who all sound the same. If you had today's female artists all singing the same song, played by the same band with the same arrangements, no one would be able to tell one singer from another. Or it could be my tin ear…
"May God bless Connie Francis, and may she rest in eternal peace."
