| After a long journey, I'm pleased to announce that I've published not one, but two new books: "STAR VOYAGERS - Adventures of the SS Stargazer" ... AND ... "MATT DUGGAN - Detective Series," both available in the Amazon Book Store AND Barnes & Noble online as 'A Collection of Stories.' Links to these publications are present in my bio and at the end of two newly posted items in my portfolio. |
| Some time back you responded to my story "Folded Red, White and Blue" with ...(should) it become necessary for Flag disposal, here are the rules: 1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner. 2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag. 3. Place the flag on the fire. . . . a problem with this part of the flag code is was from when almost every flag was made of cotton and linen. The modern nylon and polyester fabrics turn into a smoking roiling gooey toxic mass that burns for a long time. Through experience we learned to drop an open flag, sliced with 'vents' to allow flames to devour it quickly. See my "Firelight Honor" for a short but inspiring flag retirement used by many BSA Scoutmasters. |
