Is there a way to place Writing.com as a shortcut on the Desktop?

Yes, but not directly. Assuming you're using Windows, you can right-click on the desktop background, select New > Shortcut, and then type (or paste) the desired Writing.com URL into the resulting text box. You can also name the shortcut whatever you like.

I just did it myself so I could explain this, so it works on Windows 11. Your system may vary, but there should be some similar capability available.
I just used Drag and Drop of the URL. Windows 11.

My laptop’s Motherboard went Ka-put. I am, hopefully, in the process of getting another computer. I am out of commission until a replacement is found.
