Hi, everybody!*BigSmile*

Holy Cow, dudes!

I just watched The Daily show – TWICE! (show + rerun on Comedy Central+1) *Shock2*

Jon Stewart was already at his best *Down*

BUT: Jon Stewart + RamyYoussef

I laughed my bloody head off.*Rolling*
Hallo.

This is rather unusual because if there was, I'd settle beef with someone via e-mail.

But I fear in this case I'm the reason for the beef*Shock2* – and since, to my great shame, this could have happened to any member, I do it here, nonetheless.

Please know that I check outgoing NF-comments/reviews to make sure I didn't use the wrong words which may be misunderstood by the reader/reviewee. After all I'm ESL, and such might indeed throw spanners in the communication works.*Idea*

But a NF-post you can delete, or quickly follow up with a rewording/explanation. That's not possible after hitting the review button. Then it's "out there".

Yesterday I failed BIG time, in-the-face, absolutely unnecessary.

This happened:

After finishing an entertaining Word Search, I wanted to do more, and finally chose Cubby Author IconMail Icon's "Unique Names of Arizona TownsOpen in new Window..

I used some of the town names in my comment. She answered she'd found it funny and had a good laugh, and suggested I take a look at "Unique Names of Michigan TownsOpen in new Window., too.

But that time, I fear my comment wasn't so funny but – to say it in plain German – pooh.*Shock2*

If that's the case, Cubby Author IconMail Icon, I'm honestly sorry. That wasn't intended.*Cry*

I know now that one set of unique words may make a funny review while another set definitely "breaks" it... and even turns it into an insult – not only to an individual, but a whole State.*Shock2*

Remember what I said in my return mail of the "funny one" about Mallory McMorrow?

Know that I wouldn't first praise the political hope for a better political future for the US coming from Michigan, and then, for NO reason, bash Michigan. *Shock*

It was blunt silliness, and unfortunately it hit you.*Sick*

I've read some of your (quill-ed) stories, but never reviewed them, which I intended to change. But I'd totally understand if you wouldn't want that now. I mean when I'm already like an axe in the woods with a word search, then what will I only do to a story, right?*Pthb* (I suppose, like mine to me, your stories are your literary "babies", too.)

Although I hope you'll give me the chance to prove that my reviewing is more than "funny" or "poopy", but also "earnest, probably even helpful".

Mea culpa.

Peace?

Cubby Author Icon - Oh thank God!*Pray* I really thought I *peeped* up. *Sick* It was... direct. *Think* Glad it didn't piss you off.*Laugh*

And it's so nice that your daughter came by and you had a great time together.*Heart*

So I guess read you soon.*Reading**BigSmile*
Olivia Author Icon - I don't get mad very easily. And nothing you said, bothered me in the least. *Wink*

I enjoyed that. Maybe, one day I'll try making one.

At the moment I'm watching the 75th birthday show of the ARD – the German BBC or PBS – where they're showing clips from 75 years TV, and candidates have to answer questions to these clips.*Idea* (And since everyone on stage is a bloody comedian this is sch... funny, too.*Laugh*)

BUT: since – absolutely UN-typical for the ARD*Shock* – there's a definitely explicit gesture *COUGHTheFingerCOUGH* in this clip, I just give the link to keep the post below GC.*Angelic*

It's from a German politics talk show, but what is said is pretty much IRRELEVANT.*Idea* And even IF you spoke German, you'd be too distracted – and/or laughing your head off – to care.*Rolling*

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VArrJVtRMx8

Well, if that isn't a Freudian Finger, I dunno what.*Rolling*

...

Man, even when being obscene, Germans are still sophisticated. (I’d say the „Burnt Orange" can definitely still learn a thing or two about Streitkultur from us. *Smirk2*)

Elycia Lee ☮ Easter! Author Icon - It just occurred to me that maybe in Asia you don't know the gesture. *Idea*

It is meant as a derogatory expression of one's opinion without having to actually say the derogatory things.*Idea*

In THIS case, though, like I hinted at, it is probably used UN-intended.

It's rather a Western gesture, I realize. Sorry for the confusion.
Olivia Author Icon - I do know the significance of a third finger. How do they keep a straight face, I do not know.
Elycia Lee ☮ Easter! Author Icon - "Third Finger" – awesome!*Laugh*

We call it Stinkefinger around here, because it's associated with "sh–y = stinky" talk.

Concerning your question: Germans are VERY self-controlled if needed. *Angelic*

*Rolling*

Sometimes your friend is worse than your enemy. A-men.*Angelic* But... Wow! What levels of self-reflection. I nearly keeled over at that nugget of lucidity. *Shock*

Just finished watching Trump's tariff "speech" on CNBC.

Let's say – very favorably – Ohne Worte.*Explode*

I think in those 55 minutes I've lost at least 25% of my IQ and sprained essential brain gyri, and will probably never recover from it...*Dead* Hm, can I sue Donald Trump for mental battery?*Thinker*

I wanted to zap away but it was like watching a bloody accident! You just can't look away.*Shock2*

Scary Potato Author Icon - I switched to the German network airing it at one point... but that was worse because the poor simultaneous interpreter's brain almost exploded on air because he couldn't keep up with Trump's "mind" running circles.
Elycia Lee ☮ Easter! Author Icon - It mightily turns off certain kinds of customers (Germans).*Angelic*
Olivia Author Icon - I don't think you have the choice because US is currently the powerhouse. *Laugh* Unless there is a global boycott to protest DT's tariff's which is most unlikely to happen, you are stuck. *Laugh* I'm just wondering what do kids learn in school for their economics subject. 101 on Tariffs. Kids would be like: "Huh?" Adults like me don't even get it (yet).
Edited
Just watching the Daily Show to come down from the tariff "speech" earlier, and they said (during a sketch montage) that... someone*Angelic*... is looking like "Ronald McDonald's Lesbian Aunt". Butt on bucket.*Rolling*

Ever noted that DOGE sounds similar to douche? Coincidence?*Thinker* (Sorry, saw the latter on the night news just now, and that came to mind.*Angelic*)
I keep thinking of the Doge as the ruler of the Republic of Venice when it was an independent entity prior to the formation of Italy. In Italian it becomes Duce, which coincidentally was one of the titles adopted by Mussolini.
Amethyst Angel 💐 Author Icon - That even MORE fitting... because too much "efficiency" isn't good either.*Angelic*

Yummy. I hope sugar free version works as well.
Angel bunny Easter eggs galore Author Icon - Don't know, honestly. But a minimum of sugar, no matter which form (here maple syrup), is needed for texture, and so they hold together. But, of course, you can try. Let me know.*BigSmile*
