I apologize in advance in case this was slightly depressing, even though that was not my intention.
Maybe, just maybe Open in new Window. (E)

yet again in one of those times when i feel like writing but my mind is like "uggghh bro you're such a bummer just take a break" and my hands are like :"oh we're going on strike don't even think about it"
All the time! Usually I take a break come back or write something different that more suits my mood. Or you could do that thing where you choose the cathode instead of the anode. I don't get it either but some bossy person told me that choosing positive of something instead of the negative is a good idea. I'm trying it.

Instead of telling yourself "you're such a bummer." You could say "I need a break, let's write something different and be awesome that way." Just an idea.

let's make a lil deal: tag a cheerful poem here and get a free review XD. actually wouldn't mind a short story either. whatever just anything you deem cheerful. i made the mistake of checking social media again and it didn't take long for depression to settle in. and rather than reading a discredited stolen quote on a post i'd rather be here reading something written with some effort. but...i admit the search tool made me lazy to check soo...we got a deal?

I don't know if it's cheerful as such, but here's a recent nonsense poem of mine written to a prompt in the "Cards Against AuthorsOpen in new Window. activity:

"I Saw It All, Officer!Open in new Window.
Here's a funny little poem and anecdote...

He whistled, and running they came.
Only for him to laugh and call their eagerness "so lame".
Such is the fate of fools.
Regarded as nothing but fun-making tools.
The irony? most of the time it is their choice to be fools.

(you know...sometimes when you think HARD about something lines just pop up, and this is one of those times

apparently nowadays sending sad songs / shows to someone having a hard time is the same as cheering them up...not confused yet? it gets even more "interesting" once you get to see the actual act of cheering someone up be considered as anything but good...is this enough for me to finally start smoking to cope? or just drinking coffee is enough(which i don't drink by the way)?

Amethyst Angel 🌼 Author Icon - i can understand that some stuff can be beyond cheering up, but it feels like even the slightest things have become as much hard as well...even worse: encouraging others to stay depressed or indulging them in self-harm seem to be acceptable, even appreciated now...my mind can't do any gymnastics to understand that for real
Howl Author Icon - I know what you mean. I relate to emotions with music, and this February when my band released an album of anniversary demos celebrating a "smoke and mirrors" era ten years back, I wondered in my journal if I really should "step into that mood again..." Because it was a depressed and struggling era for both of us, and I didn't know if it would be healthy to "wallow" in that all over again. I'm glad I engaged with this album, though, because it's nothing like the one it celebrates. I used it in April, May, and June to write a set of short stories about a detective and his family...

Sorry for the ramble. Feel free to check out the series; it was the most beautiful and exciting writing adventure I've had yet.

Ever had that time when you know there's a problem, but you don't know what it is, but also you can't ask for the time being because you know it will make things worse? yeah apparently i'm a magnet for those situations so i tend to prepare writings for different stuff just in case...barely end up showing them though, so maybe you can use them with someone you know and tell me how it goes for future reference...

just what does gaslighting mean??? like give me an example. i kinda understood definitions but man it's used in so many totally different situations i just can't understand it. like seriously first time i saw it i thought it mean creating a spark using some kind of gas for real
  •   5 comments
Howl Author Icon - no, basically it's like discrediting someone who witnessed or experienced something wrong. I can think of 18+ examples but not E for everyone rated examples. Gaslighting is a really dark form of abuse thats hard to explain in non-triggering ways that would be appropriate for all ages because it's done to controll victims.
Howl  Author Icon
Spud(She/Her) Author Icon - i'll take it as a form of manipulation then thanks for explaining that much...guess i'll have to look up "gaslighting 101" for more details XD
Howl Author Icon - glad I was able to help clarify.

there is a question that has been on my mind for some time now: if writing is a hobby/ something you're good at, does that make others steer from you, or does it make YOU selective about your entourage? you know, kinda like how usually people who actually like /practice maths for the fun of it don't seem to be the social type to others. and if neither statements are true, then what effect does writing have on you from a "social" point of view?
I like having writers/artists/creatives and travelers in my life. But... I'm not very selective of my 'group' because I don't have one and writers can be cutthroats.
It could go either way. My personal philosophy? There are people who don't understand. People who judge because they don't know you. Believe me, you don't want that in your life.

If you want friends, those tend to the people you have something in common with, those who accept you. Thats not something to do with writing; it's more a people can be jerks no matter where you go or what their hobbies are.

I won't say that all writers/ maths/ academics can do no wrong or aren't selective. We're people like everyone else; for better or worse. The thing is people tend to be selective and have unconscious biases no matter what time period or age they are.

Granted, thats the way I see the world through my filter. Everyone's different.

by what logic do i try to reason with the unreasonable?
For what cause do i try to reach the unreachable?
For no gain at all, just a habit of the stubborn human heart
Sometimes getting close enough to the impossible is so fulfilling, even if it hurts
