But One Contest Still Needs One Entry!!!

Thank you for all your entries in the other 2 contests, though! YAY! Everyone else has 5, so we appreciate that! Now, let's get 5 entries for all 3 contests this month! Just one more entry... |
| S🤦♂️ is one of the folks on here who proudly makes his income from actually writing so please support him. In his blog post "20251031 External Writerings October 2025" , he lists 6 outside links that, if clicked, will take you to his outside music blog. No need to listen to the actual songs (though I'm sure that helps the artists, too) just click on the link above, then click on each album, wait a couple seconds, and click back, then click on the next link. This can all be done in under a minute and he gets paid for each click from a new IP address, so you'd be really helping him out! |

| Schnujo's now Cujo -- Run! - No need to post on my note, I have the Blog Board set as a favorite so can see when someone posts there... |
| This is the day where we can and should go around posting the "care" emoji on all of her posts. "Note: In case anyone missed this... Note #1137920 ..." I mean everything. Go back through all her old Newsfeed and forum posts and show her how much we care about her. For those who want to also include the emoji in your comments, but don't use it much, here's the code to copy/paste for her. {e:care} She also recommends you use it for others, but I leave that to your discretion. Feel free to also email her all the "Care" emojis you want today! She'll love that you are celebrating her special day! Amethyst SkellyBones Angel suggested we also send this beauty to her. How could she not feel cared about? If you can't afford to send her a merit badge, I'll sponsor up to 5 people to send her one of these beauties, preferably with some liberally sprinkled "care" emojis included, though there's no obligation, of course. Let me know if you need help participating. It's limited to the 1st 5 people who contact me. Bonus Note: Wraithy WiԎchy of Woe! is also hosting a fundraiser. 50k for her adorable exclusive MBs is a rocking deal! "Note: *Right* [Link to Note #1137959] *Left*
..." |
| Wraithy WiԎchy of Woe! has declared tomorrow (Wednesday, October 29 -- Already today for some of you) National "Care Day"! She doesn't like the "care" emoji because she thinks it looks like it is eating the heart. lol But she declared that tomorrow (Wednesday, October 29) we should use the "care" emoji on all the responses everywhere, no matter what they should be. (I think she's been drinking her own brew.) "Note: Public Witchy Announcement! Okay, I'..." IDK that it makes sense to do it on other people's, but I definitely plan to do it on her stuff...assuming I remember, of course. Hahaha! |
| ᗷαᛠᛠy~ᗷθθҽyҽʐ - It is difficult to make out details in such tiny flourishes to texts, emails, Newsfeeds, and such. It's particularly difficult on my postage-stamp size cellphone. Since you mention it, I can see where it looks like a Smiley sucking its thumb. In all honestly, I've always thought it looks like a Smiley hugging something I assumed was a heart. I knew it was 'giving a caring hug' and just use it as (I presume) it was intended. For me, the symbol is less important than the emotional message it conveys, "I care about you and so your cares are my cares." John Donne struck the construction fastener on the cranium in Meditation 17. A Smiley sucking its thumb would be the reverse side of the coin, meaning either 'things are a bit overwhelming just now' or 'this is dee-licious fried chicken!' |
| Charles's Cauldron 🎃 and Reluctant Halloweenist , you two are too funny! Well, PNGravebound- 📓 , giving a friend a cookie is definitely supportive and caring! Glad I can help, ♥OctOGre tHiNg♥ . Be sure to join the fun today and send lots of "Care" emojis WW's way. lol Now that you mention it, ᗷαᛠᛠy~ᗷθθҽyҽʐ , I can see the thumb sucking, too. Hahaha! |
| Jack Johnson of the Lantern sent me a MB yesterday. ![Merit Badge in Halloween
[Click For More Info]
It's that day when he comes back.
That poor old soul, that stupid Jack.
Will he find a house, grave, or nest?
Neither God nor Satan will let him rest.](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/badges/group-Halloween-2026567.gif) He went above and beyond by writing a poem for it, too! I loved the extra effort and the creative poem so he turned it into an item!
Not into poetry? It's only 4 lines. Check it out! |
| Thanks for the link, Wraithy WiԎchy of Woe! ! I was looking for that. It wasn't on my list of recent places since none of the black cases I'd reached out to had responded. Thank you, Jack Johnson of the Lantern ! Mostly, it makes me happy because I know it makes Wraithy WiԎchy of Woe! happy when we participate. No one wants to run an activity and have no one participating. lol I've only nominated 1 person all month, so you make #2. Thank you for that! Good luck! Maybe you'll win a MB! |
| One Contest Still Needs Attention in
But You Can Still Enter the Others, of Course!
Who has a comfort or dessert recipe they want to share in a story?

 |
| Schnujo's now Cujo -- Run! - Not only is there flash fiction, but then there is micro fiction. So teeny tiny for a story. Olivia doing OctoPrep - I know how you feel. I am a novel writer so all of my "stories" for contests here end up being scenes or part of a scene. Back to prep I go too. |
| Schnujo's now Cujo -- Run! - Dawn Embers just caught it perfectly. We are novelists. We don't do flash or micro, we do epic (she even more as she does fantasy). The shortest story I remember in a long time was 1.800 words. But that's how things go with writers – some are epics, some are flashers, some are micros. |
| Well, Olivia doing OctoPrep I don't call it The Contest Challenge for nothing. Hahaha! Good luck with whatever you choose! |

Good luck with whichever contests you enter this month! |
| Thank you for your kind words, Silvern and Bodhisattwa Parekh ! 🦉 Owl-oween: 23 yrs WDC! , congratulations on getting so many entries this month! WOW! Though not all are from "The Contest Challenge" . In fact, while I stopped counting for "Chapter One" after you got to 5, I know "Writing 4 Kids" only has (as of when I posted this note -- I didn't check before posting the comment) only 3 from my challenge, so that means 2 definitely came from your very own sources. Great work! The other 3 could have been crossovers. IDK. But I definitely didn't send 2 of those entries to you unless they entered after I posted this and they saw it. lol Dawn Embers , I'm also glad you chose "Sharmelle's Recipe Kitchen Contest" ! It's a trickier contest, for sure, so it doesn't get as many entries, but I think it's well worth entering. Plus, not competing against 10 or more entries can be a nice change of pace, especially for newbies or others who may not be as confident in their writing. I'm definitely glad you selected this contest! Thank you! |
| Schnujo's now Cujo -- Run! - Ah...I get what you're saying, now. I was just so excited to get that many entries, especially for Chapter One! I had been thinking of closing it at one point because of lack of interest. But the last few rounds have increased in entries, so I am happy! Sharmelle's contest is unique and I keep telling myself I'm going to enter one of these days. I've just been sooo busy in RL. |
| So, 6 of those entries in "Chapter One" are directly because of "The Contest Challenge" , 🦉 Owl-oween: 23 yrs WDC! -- more or less. lol I can't say they wouldn't have entered, but they also posted in my challenge. Now, did one of my 372 fans (I think it is) also see this note and say, "Oh, hey, that looks like a cool contest" or "That might go well with my NaNo Prep" and also decide to enter? Maybe. Or maybe those other 4 are purely organic to you. Who can say? Maybe that contest is just best served in the fall. No telling. Whatever the case, congratulations on having 10 entries this month! And good luck reading them all next month. Hahaha! |
| Here's a song by a friend of mine that seems pretty appropriate for me (and many others I know) as the month goes on. It talks about how paying your bills is a flex. lol I don't listen to much music since the brain injury, but for some reason, I love this song. He said it's his favorite, too because he grew up poor. Though he's a fairly new artist and hasn't written that many (and thus saying he's not got money is true). But maybe he means his favorite out of everyone's songs, not just his. Hahaha |
| You Can Enter Any of the Three Contests in

| N.A Miller , I LOVE your comment! It reminds me of a commercial I saw for mailmen / mail carrier (back before online training was a thing) about how to deal with customers' aggressive dogs. It was actually quite helpful. I was a kid, but have used the advice twice in my life and it definitely seemed to help! They said when you have an aggressive dog come after you, stop, in a firm voice say, "No! Bad dog! Sit." These are all commands most dogs know. I've done it once as a pre-teen or maybe young teen on a bike (though I did NOT stop lol) and once as a young adult and in both cases, while the dog didn't sit, the dog did stop in confusion. Good enough for me! Hahaha! Now, will this work on a rabid dog? IDK. I guess that's for you to find out, N.A Miller . As for you, 👀intu the Darkness , you know the old saying, "I'm so far behind, I may never die." That's me right now. lol I've got a paper that's officially 2 weeks overdue now. Eek! I have another 1-2 papers due today. I didn't bother to look to see exactly how many because I definitely won't be able to get them both done if there's more than one, so why stress over it? lol And I have a meeting with my dissertation chair on Monday to see my progress. Yep, I've not even opened my dissertation in over 2 weeks, so that will be a quick but disappointing (for her, embarrassing for me) meeting. So, all that's going well. lol Yesterday, my brain injury doctor told me I needed to keep my brain active after I graduate from my PhD program. Okay, but I think I'm dropping to associate's degrees. I can't handle all this stress. lol |
| Thank you for your support, Silvern and 🦉 Owl-oween: 23 yrs WDC! ! And especially welcome to the challenge, Silvern! Excited to have you participating! |
| For those who missed it, GrueSum1 posted a hilarious YouTube video. Then there's also this... |
| If you're interested, I happened to run across an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) group on Facebook. Consider joining if you want free books to read and review or if you need reviews for your new release books. https://www.facebook.com/groups/arc.readers.authors/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT |
| Yikes, S🤦♂️ ! I'm guessing they skipped the beta readers step? Or only had 1 who wasn't very good? Or they used their mom. Hahaha! |
| Schnujo's now Cujo -- Run! - from what I can gather, the author's beta reader was her husband or father... It certainly reeks of, "Yes, dear." But the publisher was very switched on; if that many didn't like it, the she knew changes had to be made. So I applaud her for being proactive. Of course, then I have to wonder why she's rejected the 2 novels I've submitted to her when this one got through... |
| Maybe she fired her previous (insert title of whomever decides what books get published -- editor?), S🤦♂️ , and hired a new one? Seems like that would explain it. lol |
