Spent today taking stock of the insanity I am trying to write...
Writing one book series is a challenge for sure, and two even more so. But what about two parallel series, that must foreshadow each other, and have crossovers at mile points seen from opposing characters perspective and all match up at what should be book six in each series?
If this works it will be epic, and no chance to backout now even if I wanted to.

PS: it is working, just bloody complex to write so it is easy for the reader to follow and not actually have to read both book series at the same time. I am working carefully to make sure the reader can read either series so it works, and either series can be read without the other. Not a new idea I expect but never done it myself.

I may just be completely insane by the end of this 😛

Wowee *Shock2* I thought I was going cuckoo while writing

Following a detective as he navigates life and family. 14 shorts inspired by a demo album

I must've worked out the timeline of Dan's life about fifty times, and it came out different every time *Pthb* It was the most delightfully exasperating writing experience I've had so far. I've never tried doing a series with the same characters before. It's the closest to a novel I've attempted.

Best wishes on your mammoth project *HeartT*
Wow! Thats amazing, you work really hard!
Well, this is it..... Final cover reveal.
Thanks to a little hiccup along the way the book is out on the 30th of August. E-book first followed by paperback a week or so later. Hardcover will be available in the new year as I want one myself hahaha.

Not book related but.... Hmmm owning a BMW. You don't have a car, what you have is a diva with a bad attitude and a cocaine habit. It is not just an engine but a high-performance car with F1 lineage and the maintenance costs of a small private jet. But, in between the moment's it is bleeding your bank account dry with every gasket and seal, they are fun to drive.
Conclusion...? I think German engineers really hate humanity.
PS: The car is fine, I just totaled up the costs to get this N52-B30 working right.... I really should not have looked.

StoneHeart Author Icon - we suffer the same writing ailment! I’ve got three — Drop, Flop and Plop.
StoneHeart Author Icon - I drove rental cars quite a bit, but the best I experienced was an Infiniti G37. I learned to hyperspace from airport to airport.
Brian K Compton Author Icon - Three is a good number, but seven is a bit insane. I am never without a cat close by.

And you drove a Nissan *Smile* Nice. I had a Silvia S14 until it got stolen and wreaked *Frown* Super fun car to drive and actually very easy to maintain. Lots of power for a simple 4 cylinder... oh, and stupid amounts of power.
Nine days away from book release... Kind of scary to be honest.

Oh, that nervous moment when you hand another manuscript over for beta reading. I started "Queen of Ravens" about five years ago and it is not the story I originally wrote. I think this bit in the forward sums it up well. We all improve over time and only with experience do you understand how naïve one can be.

"Writing is not a linear experience or indeed, even a rewarding one at times, however the journey I took to complete this was quite rewarding in the end. “The Queen of Ravens,” was never supposed to be the epic it has become, or even more than one book. But as so often happens with things, they can take on a life of their own and run off into the sunset dragging you along behind. In truth the seed that would grow into this story arc was my very first attempt at writing... and as you can imagine it was bloody awful, and I tossed it in a folder and wrote other things. But in that first attempt I saw a glimpse of something else, something deeper. I still have that first draft idea hidden away, and it will never see the light of day of course, but I keep it as a reminder that even a rough draft can become something else."

I saw the cover on Insta. Awesome, looked amazing!
WakeUpAndLive Author Icon - The Queen of Ravens one is simply a holding cover for now. I have an artist drawing up one *Smile* Something nice and original. She did the one for "A Memory of Empire" and it looks fantastic so happy to pay her for more work.

"Your Windows License is no longer activated, please activate your Windows License."

Ok sure... log Key into activation.

"That Key is no longer Valid. Please activate or purchase a new Key."

Oh thanks Microsoft.

Note I have had this laptop for four years and got it new.

Jon Little (they/them) Author Icon - I have my studio setup running Linux *Smile*
Spud(She/Her) Author Icon - Sorted it out, just took a bit to get the damn thing to respond. Full reinstall of Win10 more or less sorted it.
Made the mistake of going to a mall.... yeah, not for me but it made me think of this.

“Has everyone gone mad?”
“Everyone was mad already, my lady,”
Cadrach said with a strange, sorrowful smile.
“It is merely that the times have brought it out in them.”

Publication date is drawing closer.... Follow my intagram for the cover reveal.

I had to repost this.
Posted by a friend, and a quote from H.N. Swanson.

"Whenever I am asked what kind of writing is the most lucrative, I have to say, a ransom note."
Seems to be a week of cat things...

My little old girl Harry passed away in her sleep last night, she was 25 years old *Frown*
Going to miss her meows, purrs, and quirky nature.

I'm so sorry. What a long life she lived! I don't know any kitties who lived until 25.

Sending you hugs.
So sorry for your loss. Harry sounds like a super kitty. *Hug1**Frown**Hug2*
Dear God, Thank you for our animal friends and animal family members. Please comfort StoneHeart Author Icon in Jesus' name, amen.
Been a crazy week with all kinds of things going south... But worst of all is my big black cat Ozzy collapsed, and his back legs stopped working.

Ozzy has saddle thrombus (aortic thromboembolism), which is often fatal, and a 50/50 chance of survival... Crossing my fingers he is out of serious danger at this point and managed to be on the made it through side.
Anyway, even if he can't walk properly again, I will get him a set of wheels and take him for walks. He knows how to do that, so with wheels I can take him to the park and see water... the cat loves water.

There are several sizes, designs, and price for animal wheelchairs. Sometimes you can find a gently used one on line. I remember doing research about them. You can also build your own. I think there are how to videos and articles a bout building an animal wheelchair.
Available as of the 27th of July

Book One of the Never Verse Arc "A memory of Empire."

Just a little heads up for any here looking to get a professional Audiobook recording done.
I am in the final stages of building a new studio space and will be offering audiobooks as a service, so keep your eyes open for website (it is under construction).

As some of you know I have been a professional audio engineer for over twenty years in industry (how I made my living), I will be leaving teaching by the end of this year and returning to industry with my own local studio.

We will be offering voiceover artists, editing services, and consultation on all thing's audio related for books etc.

If you are interested at any stage just message me and I will be happy to talk, our rates will be very competitive (considering they will be done in NZ dollars *Smile* ). Also for our members here we will offer a discount rate on some areas of production.

Anyway keep your eyes peeled and I will be posting more over the coming months.

PS: My old studio looks like a construction zone, well, because it is under construction hahaha. Just spent a silly amount of money on a new voice over booth so it is acoustically isolated giving me a very controlled space.

For the audio minded here the voice over microphone choices are ...

Neumann TLM-102
Neumann TLM-67
AKG 414 (gold)
Shure Beta 57
Shure Beta 58
and good old SM58 as they are on occasion the best fit for some voices (especially if they talk really loud).

I keep a few different ones as some voices are better suited to say an old style 67 than a 102 or the 414 will work better where the others will not.

hmmmm I did not expect that outcome... I let a character run away on me and he turned himself into the hero and not the villain. Writing by the seat of your pants can create some lovely twists, but you do sort of have to slam the breaks on now and then and kill a character off if they get a little too out of control.

Yeah. Sometimes killing one teaches the others to behave...
Nooo! Let him live! *Laugh*
