I find your writing to be consistent with what I remember and know about Jane Austen and her characters. I think you have brilliantly created the history of a family, bringing forth what is truly meaningful and important when life choices are made.

Harry and Elizabeth Dashwood are the admirable characters, who made the right decisions, despite family pressures and influences of the day.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

Mothers seem to be difficult challenges throughout Jane Austen's work. I think you have done an amazing job with weaving in what is important in life's journey.

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

I think the guidance that Lady Susan gives Emma is generous and helpful as the relationship with Daniel unfolds.

It is definitely consistent with the style and the format of Jane Austen as she wrote in a very different time when customs were quite removed from what exists today.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I particularly enjoyed the reference to the Bingleys and the moral support given to Emma in this correspondence. Jane Austen is so brilliant, isn't she? I can picture her writing this very readily.

I enjoyed reading the letters from another time, using imagination of today.

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

I especially like how you are true to the original Pride and Prejudice characters, making reference to their familiar traits throughout the story.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

The thing about Darcy and Elizabeth that you capture so well is that each takes so much joy in the other's happiness. Such generous hearts struggle through to find a great love as their reward.

I think it is a gift to really be able to see that what makes Darcy happy is making Elizabeth happy. Takes a kind heart to recognize another one, I reckon.

The references to Mrs. Bennett and Kitty made me smile. I always picture Colin Firth as Darcy, so this was a welcome extension of his wonderful characterization.

I enjoyed reading your story very much and my imagination was definitely engaged!

I think you are right in your assertion that Jane Austen is a huge influence on modern works, as well as those more close to her in time.

Her characters are memorable and timeless and her plot twists are original and inspiring.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I, too, would focus on Sense and Sensibility, along with Pride and Prejudice. I can see a lot of plot twists of the modern era are there to be found in Jane's writing.

I appreciate your thoughtful analysis and appreciation for her work and the genius of her life. I hope you continue to enjoy your reading and writing adventures, using inspiration from such an inspiring figure in history.

Review of A Journal With Everything

This is a nice thing about autumn.

One good thing. Downton Abbey, The Grand Finale movie is now available for purchase on amazon today. Purchase or rent. It was $26 something with tax. I bought it so I can watch it later.

Have been checking every day for a while since it came out in September.

The other good thing is those hurricanes are headed out to sea. I hope we don't get any hurricanes this year. It might mean less rain totals, but last year was way too much.

Fingers crossed!

What does tHiNG think about while perusing your item?

I thought about the change of seasons. It still feels like summer, but I see signs everywhere of autumn. This will take us into the winter and maybe life will get better for both of us.

What does tHiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I applaud that you are graciously hosting another campfire. I look forward to writing in these each and every day. I don't always have a lot to say, but I enjoy sharing things that go on. It helps me not to feel as alone as I sometimes do now.

I think this will be another great adventure and I will do my best to be a positive contributor as we forge ahead!

I think the March Hare was a little out of control. He needs anger management classes.

When everything settled down it reminded me of the Tea Party Queen Elizabeth II had with Paddington Bear during the Platinum Jubilee. It was lovely and inviting once everything calmed.

Excellent entry!

This is so fascinating that Boston has all this historical interest. I have been through there, but never spent much time there exploring. It was always on the way to other places that I passed through there.

I have always wanted to visit the JFK Library at Harvard since I found out that Ernest Hemingway's wife donated a lot of things to the college in Ernest's memory. But I will never get a chance to travel like that without my better half. It's fun to think of how interesting it would be.

I would love to go to Fenway Park, though.

Thanks for taking me along on your virtual trip - it's fun to dream still!!

Another great entry! This makes me homesick for my home state!

I miss the great seafood and I miss all the museums in DC, nearby. I grew up in Montgomery County, but my better half and I went to Ocean City a few times. I loved how all the crows and ravens are Edgar to you. That made me smile.

Love those ponies, too.

I love Poe and how Baltimore honors him.

F Scott Fitzgerald is buried in Rockville, Maryland. Maryland has a lot of literary lights.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

You make it seem like I (the reader who has never been there) am with you in th exploration of such an interesting place.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

Have you been there before? I think you did a wonderful job of describing and making it interesting. It sounds like you could give an interesting tour of the place. My niece lives near Nasa in Houston. Mr. HOOves was raised in Houston.

But the last time we went there was 1996, way before my niece lived there. She gets a lot of hurricane type weather, but I think she likes it. She goes to comic con stuff but I'm not sure they do much to check out NASA even though they are very close to it.

This sounds like an activity that you will enjoy. I will enjoy reading your entries!

I just noticed it is your 21st Account Anniversary month! Congrat-MOO-lations!!

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

This poem captures the feeling of loss and grief very well. How can we say goodbye when we don't know when.

Personally, I always worry about the wrong thing when it comes to impending doom.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

The part that sticks with me is "racing to our destination." Life is all about hurrying to the next thing. It makes you wonder what we really are racing to when we have everything life promises. It always seems like there is something more over the horizon. Well, there is, but it isn't necessarily better.

Unfortunately, regret is a constant reminder of what is lost.

I thought this was a very powerful poem and the imagery and the feelings conveyed are very familiar and powerful. Well done.

It is your account anniversary so here I am with a review as we move into July!

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

July fills me with anxiety, too. It doesn't make that much sense since all the worst storms here have been after August. But it's the idea that we label July as the start of a scary time.

But with the weather panic that passes for forecasting these days, it's hard to imagine a season that doesn't have scary elements to it.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I like the idea of live in the now and don't get tied up with anxiety. Let it Be plays in my mind.

I don't know about you, but in my life I have found (from experience) that I always worry about and prepare for the wrong thing.

But then I think well, if I am prepared maybe it means nothing will happen bad. But that doesn't make any sense when I stop and ponder. Did my worrying and preparing make all these things not happen? Food for thought.

June is a hot month going out the door. I think the thing about July for me is I notice that the daylight time is less. It makes it seem more ominous. Maybe if I lived in Australia where it's winter, it would be better.

I ended up where I was meant to end up I think. But we get hurricanes too, even far inland ones as last year proved.

So, we do our best to carry on and do the right thing, never knowing what will work.

I guess that is where faith comes in. Very thoughtful entry in your Blog!

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

All my sympathies are with the ravens in this. May certainly had her plate full with Stritter as her bad neighbor.

We really appreciate it when we have good neighbors and this is why. Things can escalate to a fever pitch of hostilities into unspeakable violence.

I thought this was well written and once I started reading, I was eager to see where your writing led me. Very well told!

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I was totally on board with the ravens and May's support of them. I cannot fault her for being self serving. She went out of her way to be kind when most humans wouldn't bother.

Hiring May was a stroke of genius for the raven community. Stritter was a menace to one and all.

I enjoyed this reading adventure very much and found the ending to be very satisfying.

I wouldn't change a thing if I were you.

I saw this had been updated and I don't think I saw it before. I didn't send a review until now. Great idea - having Santa write to Jane Austen.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I feel very sorry for her short life. However, I feel like somehow she knows how much regular people love her work and what longevity it has had.

F. Scott Fitzgerald died of a sudden heart attack in his early 40s. At the time he died, he felt like a failure. Surely, someone he knows how people admire his work now.

Same with Jane Austen. I cannot imagine her wonderful stories fading away, either. She was a great storyteller.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I appreciate her so much. And just think about Colin Firth. Without Jane Austen, he would have been just another British actor.

Everyone knows him because of her and that's pretty amazing, too.

I like this because, through Santa's letter we learn how her brother helped her. I'm not sure I knew that. Some brothers would take credit for their sister's work so he sounds pretty special, too.

I think she is by far the most loved and revered female writer, even now so long after she is gone. What a wonderful collection of work she gave the world.

I have to believe she knows. Somehow, she knows.

You said you had finished The Beatles Challenge so I came to read your entry, which ties in with the news of the day.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I thought about the contradictory messages in the song, Imagine. John Lennon didn't have answers, only questions.

He dreamed about what could be, but didn't know how to get there.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I think that, as you point out, the song has great meaning in Today's world as well as the time when it was written. In that way it is timeless. None of us knows the real answers but as long as we live there will be times of wars and times of peace. As we grow and age, we realize that it is good to cherish the peaceful times.

I enjoyed reading and reviewing this thoughtful entry about "Imagine!"

Wow, that was such a volatile time, but this is timeless. I liked the way you incorporated the song titles with what the characters tried to do. It sounds like after all this, they don't have any regrets and it seems like that's pretty important.

I saw that you had added to your Beatles music journal, so here I am to read and review.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I think that combining these songs was brilliant. They are all perfect choices to convey change and living with and coping with loss.

I could certainly identify with that!

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I was struck by Getting Back to Yesterday. I wonder if everyone wishes for that sooner or later. I thought things were difficult before, but I had no idea what was waiting for me.

We learn to cope and carry on. Those of us left behind to cope with the change. That's what we do. Some days are happier than others and I appreciate those very much.

Great song combination! You did a super job with this!

I saw this was updated.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I like how you incorporate the events that happened during the War as a backdrop for the music. The protests were so different and genuine back then.

We were all scared about the people we knew who were in Vietnam. My brother went. Tom was there twice, but I didn't know him until way after the War was over, in the 80s.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

The music meant so much then, didn't it? It's like I think of those times and it is always set to the music of the Beatles and others. Long after that, Tom met a Canadian guy from the Guess Who, who co-wrote American Woman.

That music all goes with what was happening and it was scary and dramatic. This was very reminiscent of the times we grew up in.

I enjoyed reading it and seeing how you referenced the music and the happenings all around.
