What a lovely short story! The sense of brevity and doom is palpable from the start.
There was only one thing that I wasn't sure about from the reading. Was Erasmus the one responsible for setting the bombs? I assume so, and that his panic at someone finding the blueprints was because he was planning on getting away clean after the bombs went off. And fate intervened.
I like it a lot.
P.S. One editing note. The word "spot" is missing from "...an excellent blind from which to observe people strolling by..."
