Wilderness is a great place to be.

Mountain Dawn

Fiery fingers grip the eastern peaks,
breath steams in crisp air,
I step into the stirring woods
with distant light providing promise,
of journeys yet to come.
Dawn approaches, knocking,
on the morn’s ancient waiting door.
Aged blazing eyes slowly begin to open,
while surrounding hills seem to beckon
for the touch of her snug embrace.
In the mist’s cloaking veil life croons,
while I simply sit and listen,
to a serene and timeless song.

Stoking last night's dying embers,
smoky dreams begin to rise.
The forest sips at morning dew.
Blessed I feel to share this time,
teased by the trouble-free laughter
of a bubbling brook’s faithful promise,
inviting me always
to join her flirting spring time fun.
Her advances win my smile,
while tiny hummingbirds
appear shyly before me.
Like fluttering pixies, dancing with flowers,
in the peaceful mountain dawn.
