“No, it’s haunted!” Paul walked away from his siblings, back down the forbidden hotel corridor and out of sight.
“Wimp!” said Jason. Following his sister into the room, he pushed the heavy door closed.
The stone wall was inviting. It had metal insets, yellow bricks, all highlighted by the suns afternoon rays. When the lock clicked, the wall seemed to smile, and the room suddenly went cold.
On waking the next morning, Paul couldn’t shake the strange feeling that he hadn’t always been an only child.
