On sandy shores my father’s love so clear.
The warm white sand, my heart beseeched the tide,
to swallow not the ground I hold so dear,
and prayed for love, that life could not divide.
We walked with mirth, the sand beneath our feet
The dying of my heart so sure to come,
But there the wind breathed life, and life we’d greet,
though time would ne’er change, nor be undone.
A child no more; I walk the sand alone,
with memories so weighted in my pack.
The tide a constant just as I have grown,
to walk with life; the sun against my back.
And hence your shadow constant, like the tide,
with love, your heart: an angel at my side.
