Daffodils, picked to spread the gift of joy. 12 lines. For the Writer's Cramp Contest.

Flower of Joy.

With my childhood admiration,

Trumpets of yellow from creation,

Called to me each afternoon,

Daffodils chosen for my room.

Springtime dances. Fun with friends.

A flower patch, the gardener tends.

And I with sneaky little hands,

Would pick fresh love gifts from the land.

Fragrant petal, grass to blend.

Perfection chosen. Joy to lend.

A childhood pastime; but now I know,

A flower picked will cease to grow.
