A spirit walks the road outside of Reno. Poem 20 lines. For the Writer's Cramp Contest.

Gambler's Despair

There’s a girl outside of Reno
with red feathers in her hair;
Her golden locks are windswept
and tiny feet are bare.

She walks along the sandy road,
a small case in her hand
Is swaying with life’s motion,
as her song betroths the land.

For some who are leaving Reno,
with pockets emptied bare;
their folly at the casino,
leaving not a cent to spare.

They may catch a glimpse of magic,
in her aura lined with gold,
to warm the spirit, touch the heart
and turn the day, I’m told.

There’s a girl outside of Reno
with red feathers in her hair.
She will turn the hardest heart,
and revive those who despair.
