I forfeit the zoo experience.
Better to know the wild,
as the wild is meant to be.
I scour the city,
feeling close to nature.
My safari takes me to hidden ecosystems,
that only one who seeks shall find.
I see the falcon perched on a skyscraper
feeding her young.
I hear the grasshoppers,
stripping fields in the distance.
A raven gathers friends to party at the garbage disposal,
and I sneak around hidden rocks at the public pond
to find a lizard strolling in the undergrowth.
Their world meets my world, with a common link.
We are all free.
My day has been inspired
by this urban safari.
