Busby and Pippin have a disagreement. 300 words |
Untrue,Untrue “That’s a lie!” Busby Elkhorn shouted as he went nose to nose with his biggest rival Pippin Radish. “Prove it!” roared Pippin, clenching both fists. “Gentlemen, gentlemen; what is all this brouhaha about?” said Mr. Tomtittle the teacher as he stepped between the two combatants. “He’s lying about my family!” Busby said. “I’m not sir, his sister told me!” Pippin replied “Gossip is not a thing we spread around this school,” the teacher scolded, grabbing each elf by the ear. “It’s your fault we got detention,” Pippin whispered to Busby. “You started it, spreading rumors about my family,” Busby whispered back. They began to scuffle all over again, until the detention monitor broke them up. Of course, he reported them both, so they were expelled for a week. “See what you did!” Pippin said as they were both walking home. “I did? You started it!” Busby said, giving him a push. Pippin fell flat backward in a mud puddle. Growling, he grabbed Busby’s ankle and dragged him into it too. Soon they were fighting tooth and nail in the mud and water. “Busby Elkhorn! Get out of that mud at once!” he heard a voice screech. He looked up to find his sister with her hands on her hips, staring down at him. “What are you doing telling a Radish about our family business?” he said scowling at her. “What business? About us moving?” “He didn’t need to know!” “Of course, he does! He’s my beau!” his sister said. Busby looked at Pippin aghast. He held out his hand. “Truce and you’re welcome to her!” “Not sure I want her now,” Pippin said with a grin. “You gotta take her, please, ole buddy ole pal!” “Since you asked so nicely, then I’ll do it.” The pair shook again. 300 WORDS DAILY FLASH 4/29/2025 |
