Oleg is famously no fool. 300 words

Blind Artistry With Ambition

When Oleg heard the thunderous knock on his door, he almost dropped a crucial piece of glass. Reflexively he caught it before it hit the floor.

“Coming, keep your shirt on,” he yelled.

Upon his opening it, a falsely hardy voice said: “Are you Oleg?” Before he could answer, whoever it was forced himself past him and into the room.

“So, this is the place where the famously reclusive Oleg does his painting. My name is Miles Revelstoke.”

Fumbling to find the hand he sensed was outstretched for him to shake, Oleg did so awkwardly.

“What’s the matter with you, man?” his visitor asked.

“I’m blind.”

“Really, that’s interesting!” Miles almost cooed.

“You do such impressive work, how can you when you do not see?”

“I have not always been blind. Just since I became a glass artist.”

“Ahh, sorry to hear that. Was it an accident?"

“No, a thief tried to steal my work, and I was blinded when he stabbed me!”

“My goodness, how unfortunate for you. Is this your latest work?” Revelstoke asked.

There was a movement of air as his visitor moved to stand in front of his worktable that alerted Oleg. He pulled a piece of string from up his shirt sleeve and surreptitiously tied it to the piece in progress that lay on the table.

“My goodness, this is wonderful! Let me bring it to the light to study it better!” Revelstoke said in an oily tone.

Oleg grabbed the end of the string that hung below the table’s edge. He could feel his work sliding forward slowly, so he tightened his grip. The framed glass continued to move. Oleg pulled back. It began to fall. Then came the crash.

“You broke it you bought it,” Oleg said mildly firm.
