God is the potter, and I am the clay. May this poem express this.

I am made from dirt and am nothing but dirt.
All of my righteousness is as filthy rags.
I am a lump of clay full of brokenness and hurt.
God you are able to fix these dirty and torn rags.

The Lord created man from the dirt of the earth.
Lord, break this clay, I am powder and dust before you.
Create in me something that is great in worth!
You are not destroying me but creating something new.

I surrender my pride and every evil thought and deed
Wash every particle in the water of your Holy word
May I follow you and the cross wherever you may lead
Saturate me with the glory of your spirit and the word

Mend me and remake me by your Holy Spirit.
All my sins are nailed to the cross and I am too.
Anything I am holding on to that’s not from you, remove it.
Every pride, lust, lie, rebellion and filthy spirit is through.

May the furnace of affliction melt away the sadness in me.
When I feel overwhelmed, I know you are with me in the fire.
Refine me in the fire and remove any impurity.
Remove any unclean thing in me, thought and desire.

May your will be done and I surrender all
Make a beautiful and useful vessel out of me!
Restore all that was lost before my fall
May your spirit resonate from me so lovingly.

May my cup run over with your love and grace
Make your Son to shine upon my life
Let others see you upon my own face
May others as well be freed from their strife!

May I be made in the likeness of your son
I am covered in the blood in Jesus' name
Let you be pleased in everything that's done
Let us never forget the reason that you came.

Note: Clay is made from dirt. It can be broken up into fine powder and made into new clay to make something new. Or a broken vessel can be put back together through a process. Fire is sometimes used as well as water and impurities such as plastic and other particles can be filtered out. This is inspired by Isaiah 64:8 - But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
