And Joey Smiled “I had the strangest dream…” “Last night?” Gram asked. “Yes,” Joey said. “The world had all agreed…” Grandma started… “What are you taking about?” Gram chuckled a bit, “You reminded me of a song…” “A song?” “Yes, when I was a kid, they already were writing songs… Or did you think we were still living in caves?” “Very funny… What was the song?” “I don’t remember the name; it was quite a while ago… but that was one of the lines.” “So, it was about a dream?” “Yes, a dream that all the people in the world stopped fighting each other and started getting along. Like we were all in the same country, only it was the whole world.” “That would be cool.” “Someday it might happen…” “Well from what I’ve read in history we are making progress. We just need a few more thousands of years…” Joey laughed. “I think you’re right. So, even if I get to a hundred, we’ll still be fighting?” “Probably, but I bet people who lived a few hundred years ago would think that where we are now is amazing.” “Why?” “Because we all know about each other for one thing. And, we know that the wars aren’t from the regular people like us, they are from the big shot government people who want to be more powerful than each other.” “Wow, you have an opinion!” “I do. I hope, and am hoping to have that world you’re thinking about, when you get to my age. It could happen.” ‘I guess it could! So, what’s the name of that song, I’d like to see if I can find it.” “Last Night I had the strangest dream.” “I’ll look it up! Thanks for the memory,” “Thanks for making my day,” Grandma smiled. Joey smiled too. |
