Mona discusses an odd dream with Oris. 300 words

Dream Weaver

“I had the strangest dream,” Mona said casually to Oris.

“Oh? You remembered it?” Oris replied.

“Yes, what about it?”

“I understand when you remember a dream it means it has a lesson for you.”

“A lesson? What kind of a lesson is flying?”

“Flying? In a plane?”

“No, flying in the air with my own body doing it.”

“Wow, that is strange. Why do you suppose you would remember something that odd?”

“Might have been the teacher. It was a man I didn’t know. When I could not seem to get the hang of it, he started crying. He claimed I wasn’t really trying and that meant the art of flying was dying.”

“Did that make you sad?”

“Yes, I really liked flying, it was freedom and very relaxing.”

“That may be the lesson you needed to learn.”

Mona looked at him like he was nuts.

“Take the freedom that you have and learn to relax with it,” Oris explained.

“I sometimes feel that taking the freedom I enjoy is like a betrayal to those that fought and died for it. I don’t find it relaxing.”

“Don’t you believe that those who fought for your freedom would not have wanted you to enjoy it? Wasn’t that why they did it? Because it mattered.”

Mona thought about it.

“I sometimes feel like I don’t deserve their sacrifice.”

“Even if it is sometimes treated like a right, I think those who fought for it, knew it wasn’t. But by not using what you have in the way of freedoms, could be seen as wasting the lives of those who fought for them.”

“How did you get so wise?” Mona wondered

“By thanking those who fought for my freedoms every day when I can and never forgetting to enjoy them.”
