Time For An Intervention

“This place is a mess,” complained Noble.

“I’ll get on it after supper,” his pregnant wife sighed from the couch.

“If you didn’t laze around all day, it would be done!”

Kiki heaved her very pregnant body up and stood with difficulty. She walked slowly into the kitchen.

“Speaking of supper, what are we having?” Noble asked as he flicked open his paper and sat down in his lazy boy to read.

“I thought I’d empty the fridge...”

“Leftovers, how gross is that!” said Noble.

“I didn’t get a chance to shop...” his wife began again.

“You had all day; you should have planned!” her husband stated.

“We could do take out if you’d rather,” Kiki suggested.

“Sounds good! I’m going down to the pub for dinner. Those leftovers are all yours!”

Without another word he left, and Kiki pulled together something from the fridge.

The next day was Noble’s day off. He left to go golfing early. By the time he got home after the nineteenth hole, he fell straight to sleep on the sofa. He rolled over and hit the floor. That woke him up. To his astonishment, he had a large watermelon shrink-wrapped to his stomach and two smaller melons to his chest.

“Hello son,” said a voice.

He looked up from the floor to find his mother and his mother-in-law watching him.

“You don’t appear to understand your role as a father-to-be. The mother of our grandbaby needs help. Let’s see what you can do with the same bodily changes as Kiki is putting up with. Get yourself up.”

He tried. He couldn’t do it. The two moms helped him.

“There now, gotta pee?”

Suddenly he did! He didn’t make it. So it went, until Noble conceded having a baby deserved help.
