I found a ripped sheet of paper today that was going to be binned - it contained this

6 days it took the tits,
foraging the undergrowth.
Sticklers for the sticks,
tireless workers they are both.

The eggs were lain with care,
now the mothers at her post.
Away she will not tare,
strangers she will not host.

The days turn into weeks.
The time has almost come.
The tiny little beaks.
Their first kis of sun.

Before their can be reaction,
with a creak and a crash.
A sudden burst of action,
and a jolt of ash.

Does the ashen squirrel know,
the time and effort it took to lay?
Will the ashen squirrel show,
a morsel of dismay?
