What’s the Plan

What’s the plan? I just got a book, “How to use a computer.” I have a computer; I’ve had it for years! But I wanted to know how to do some things without having to interrupt my daughter-in-law’s work, so she can walk me through it, again…

Once I know something, I do great! Until… I stop doing for a while, and then I’ve forgotten how again, every time. A memory problem? Or a generation problem? Or just a me problem…? I’ve been around a few years now.

Some people did have computers earlier, but not regular every-day people, in regular every-day houses. Not even at school. It was like thinking ‘wouldn’t it be nice to have your own ice cream truck?!’ Well, great when you wanted ice cream, not so great when you got old melted ice cream everywhere because you weren’t selling it, and suddenly found it really necessary. Like me, not wanting to get a driver’s license… I didn’t want to drive a car, but eventually, I needed one, I had no choice.

I’m there with computers now. You can’t do much of anything without a computer now, not and enjoy life anyway! But every time I start something, I’ve forgotten, or never actually learned how to do it in the first place. So, I just gave in and bought a “How to” book. I want to learn, need to, really… without having to go find somebody, take sixty pounds of notes and cross my fingers! I’m not stupid! (my computer has me wondering if that’s a lie…)

So don’t be looking for me for a few days (possibly weeks?) I am determined to learn to use this stupid, pain in the you know where, nasty, supposedly wonderful machine. Or I will die trying… Wish me luck!
