| Running Like Crazy “I don’t like it here.” “What are you afraid of, ghosts?” Randy shot back, laughing. “No,” Jason said, “this place is creepy.” “So, you are afraid of ghosts!” Randy laughed again. “You think ghosts are creepy?” Jason asked. “They’re not real, why would I think they were anything. Only stupid people believe ghosts are real.” “So, what happens when people die?” “They stop being alive. Period…” “We only get one life, and then nothing?” “Of course. You die, your body stops, your brain stops. If you just sat there, you’d shrivel away, like ice on a sunny day. What do you think?” “I think the real you would leave the broken body, and go on to their next life.” “Pffft! That’s idiotic!” “Well, people die every day, and babies are born every day, doesn’t that seem a little suspicious? A person lives a life, and does a lot of things. Then they get older or tired or sick and then they pass on. And every a day baby is born like a big sheet of paper that has no writing on it yet. A baby could easily be a former person who died. That makes more sense to me.” “Huh… never thought of it like that. Why wouldn’t we know it happened?” “Maybe it would be too scary for some, and others would get too careless knowing they would just get a new chance. Well, there’s probably lots of reasons.” “Huh. I’ll have to think about that. But if it’s not ghosts, what is the creepy part about this old place?” “I did say creepy, didn’t I… I guess I meant scary… Like that bee hive, where the bees have just seemed to notice us… RUN!!!!” Both boys started thinking very differently at that very moment, while running like crazy! |
