| Definitely Love Lying on the beach. A beautiful day, not too hot, not too cool. The sky a brilliant blue with misty clouds going by now and then. Seagulls occasionally passing over in noisy groups, making me smile. I have been working on a tan since the weather turned and I’ve started to see my skin turning a soft yellow brown. Just what I wanted. I have on my two-piece suit too so I can tan the middle and show it off with my shirts tied in the front. I always admired that look in the summer. Now and then I hear a horn, someone in a boat showing off. I had no desire to be on the water; I was happy snuggled on my blanket on the lovely soft sand. Checking my watch (of course not on my wrist, I don’t want an un-tan line there!) I saw that it was almost two. No time for a little nap today, I sighed. I had to leave by three, even a bit earlier would be good. But I was having such a lovely time… And then my alarm clock went off. I practically jumped, only held back because my blanket was wrapped around me like a giant claw. I got the clock on the fourth ring and practically broke my hand smashing the button down to silence it. As I lay there, calming down from the panic, I remembered my dream. It was so lovely there. I wanted to change my whole life into that dream! But then Rocco jumped up. Barking because he wanted breakfast, waking up Ken, my still sleeping husband. From the next room I could hear a tiny voice, apparently also wanting food, our seven-month-old daughter, Kelly. No beach today. I thought smiling. But definitely love. |
