Except Jason

“Jason, get your coat!” Mom called from the kitchen.

“The red one or brown one?” Jason called from the living room.

“The brown one.”

“I don’t like the brown one…”

“Too bad, put it on…”

“Do I have to?”

“Yes! We have to leave soon. We can’t be late!”

Minutes later, still from the kitchen. “Do you have your jacket on? And tie your sneakers…”

“On my way!” from the living room…

A couple more minutes later: “Ready?”

“Almost!” Jason called back, still in the living room.

“Do you have socks?”

“Yes!” came the answer, still from the living room.

Mom smiled, and yelled “Do you have your shoes on yet?”

“I’m just starting with them! I already had socks.”

“OK, we’re leaving in a few minutes, I just have to put these dishes away…. You ready?”

“I’ll be right there!” he yelled back, still in the living room.

Mom had carefully opened the door to the living room, keeping as quiet as possible. Just before she started yelling to him. “Ok, we’re leaving in a couple minutes!” She quietly held her phone through the small opening to where Jason was getting ready. She wanted to get a video of Jason, to add to the conversation she just taped.

Jason dropped the things in his hands, popped off the TV, and grabbed his clothes in seconds! Whipped them all on, even the socks and sneakers (on wrong feet) checked the TV being off and he ran his hand through his hair, then turned toward the door.

Mom popped it open, hiding her phone behind her. “Let’s go!” Off they went.

Mom played that short video every time they had friends over, at Christmas, and even on Jason’s birthday. Nobody ever got tired of seeing it! Well, except Jason…
