A politician yearns for release from a nefarious force. Wiil, she reach her goal? |
Mrs. Elwood stared blankly into her mirror showing her baggy eyes and wrinkled face. Streaks of white ran through her dark, hair. It was like she was reflecting on her very purpose. “I’ve been here for years. And I have gotten in so deep there is no going back.” A dark smoky, figure formed into a man in a cloak. “You have done well, Mary. Our influence over the United States is strengthening.” “What am I to do next?” The figure smiled. “Wait. I am organizing the prominence and power of the next US president. You will hear from us later.” The figure vanished and Mrs. Elwood was left in an aberrant mood. As she surmised earlier, any getting out had gone to the pigs. She exited her lavish home and walked through her garden in the cool afternoon. Next she walked to her driveway and hopped into her Mercades and drove for the Whitehouse a few blocks away. After parking, she went up the White House steps and was greeted by colleagues. Suddenly, a man in a suite approached her. “Senator Elwood, what do you say about the accusations of bribing the district court judge for over 700 dollars?” “I have no comment,” she said as she continued into the main government building. It was a bustling thoroughfare of bureaucrats and officials. The everyday madhouse sometimes got to her. At times she wished it was more like the old western town of Deadwood. Many of her fellow senators were at one point accused of being in the company of corrupt state senators. Her relationships with them had put her job under scrutiny. She pushed the idea away and focused on the senatorial meeting that was scheduled for 12:45. She entered the chamber and sat in her seat next to her fellow senators, Mr. Smith. “Only the Ab57 bill is on the table today,” said Smith. “We’ve worked hard to conceal the other measures included in the bill. Bit by bit the US infrastructure is confirming to the one world order.” Smith nodded. “And when our presidential candidate comes to power, it will come to pass within a matter of years.” The house speaker pounded his Javel. “I call this hearing to order. Our presentation on the agenda is bill Ab57. I will read the overarching premise of the bill.” The speaker disclosed the premise of tax cuts and inserting taxes to better purposes like homelessness, effective infrastructure and more government help. However, the subverted measures like government infringement on rights and DEI constructs were concealed. When the meeting adjourned, Mary exited the building and was approached by a man in his forties. A scowl on his face made her reel back. “You are a servant of evil. But the God I serve will come against you! There are many who pray fervently against your wicked goals and know your schemes will come to nothing!” The man’s words stuck in her gullet like a psychological knife. His words cut to her heart-this encounter was like no other! The man turned away leaving Mary at a loss. She was jittery all the way home. She sat on her couch and turned on her tv. An hour later, she turned it off-it was time for the meeting. Twenty minutes went by-no appearance of the dark phantom of evil. Eight O’clock went by and still nothing. Why did the dark figure not appear? Mary went to bed, baffled. Yet at the same time she was relieved. That night, she had a strange dream. She found herself in a bright light encircled by beings in bright white robes. She fell to her knees, trembling. “You have allied yourself with agents of darkness. You are an enemy of righteousness!” said one of the beings. “Please, have mercy!” said Mary. “Repent this of your evil deeds and submit to God, that perhaps you may be forgiven and find salvation.” “What must I do?” “Forsake your office and renounce your allegiance with evil.” “But they will come for me!” “Trust in God and you will be delivered.” “Very well then. I will do as you ask.” Mary awoke in amazement. “Can it be? Is there hope!” It was 9 am. Mary sped off in her car and ran right into the office of the Speaker of the House, John Wright. “Mr. Speaker, I am resigning.” Wright reeled back. “What is the problem?” “I no longer consider myself capable of the office.” Wright frowned. “If that is what you want…than I will file the motion. I wish you the best.” Mary walked out in tears of joy. She was free! Senator Smith approached her. “What is the matter?” “I’m free, my friend! I no longer am in bondage to the dark force! God has saved me!” “You’re beside yourself, Mary! Religion has driven you mad! The dark agents will kill you if you try to leave!” “God has delivered me!” “Then your destruction is absolute.” Smith walked away and Mary felt sorry for Smith. She took in a deep breath of air like she had breathed for the first time. She drove home in joyful peace of mind. She collapsed onto her couch. Suddenly a dark form appeared once more and gasped. “Turn back to us or die!” said the phantom. “No, God has freed me!” The dark figure lunged for Mary, but a flash of light pierced the figure’s chest, and it dissolved like black ash. “You have been freed. Live in joy with your new life,” said a man in bright robe, like in her dream. “But what will I do now, since I have forsaken my old career?” “you have been instructed to write a book about your life and what all transpired at the latter end. Your witness will liberate many who are as you been. This is where I leave you. God speed, good servant.” The being disappeared and Mary shouted with glee at her new future prospect. |
