A modern day version of the Little Red Hen fairytale. 980 words.

Little Red Lynn and the Bitcoin Tree

Once upon a time lived Little Red Lynn, a cheerful and curious girl with a love for exploring the outdoors.

One morning, as the sun shone brightly in the sky, casting a golden glow over everything, Little Red Lynn decided to take a break from her usual routine and spend some time outside. The air was fresh, with a soft breeze that made the trees sway gently, their leaves rustling in the wind. It was the kind of day that made you want to sing.

She skipped through the park, humming a little tune, as she gazed up at the clouds drifting by.

“What a great day! What a beautiful day! Oh, what a great, great day, what a great day, what a great, great day!” she sang, her voice floating on the breeze.
As she wandered along, something unusual caught her eye. Glinting in the grass was a shiny, staticky coin that looked entirely out of place. It wasn’t a regular coin. It seemed to shimmer with a strange energy, like it didn’t belong in this world.

"Hmm… That’s odd," Lynn muttered to herself, bending down to inspect the strange object. After a moment, she recognized it. “Wait a minute… is this a Bitcoin seed?”

Legend had it that Bitcoin seeds were incredibly rare—said to be magical, capable of growing into towering trees that produced Bitcoin fruit. The fruits, when harvested, could yield millions in value. It was a treasure many people dreamed of, but few ever found.

Lynn’s heart skipped a beat. “I’ve got to plant this!” she exclaimed.
Just then, she spotted her friend JR, who was sitting on a nearby park bench, glued to his smartphone screen.

“Hey, JR! Look what I found!” she called out, waving the Bitcoin seed in the air. “It’s a Bitcoin seed! I’m going to plant it. Want to help me?”

JR barely looked up from his phone. His fingers were rapidly tapping on the screen. “Not now, Lynn,” he said, distracted. “I’m in the middle of this cyber contest. I can’t lose points. And I’ve got a stack of cans waiting for me to empty them—priorities, you know? Maybe later, alright?”

JR returned to his virtual world, and Lynn shrugged, deciding to tackle this new adventure on her own.

She continued skipping along the path, the Bitcoin seed clutched tightly in her hand, until she reached a quiet spot by the stream. The area was peaceful, surrounded by flowers and tall grasses that gently swayed in the breeze. She knew this place would be perfect for the seed to grow.

“What a great day, what a great, great day,” she sang once more, her voice light and carefree.

Just as she knelt down to plant the seed, another friend Kris zoomed past her, nearly knocking her over as he struggled to control a drone that was flying erratically overhead. The drone whizzed in circles, and Kris, eyes locked on the controller, shouted, “Not now, Lynn! I’m busy monitoring the drones. Too many cameras to watch. Maybe later!”

Lynn laughed and nodded, though a bit disappointed. She wasn’t deterred. She gently planted the Bitcoin seed in the soil, watered it, and made sure to pull out any weeds that might get in the way.

The days passed, the Bitcoin seed began to sprout, growing taller and stronger with every passing moment. It wasn’t long before it became a massive tree, its branches heavy with ripe Bitcoin fruits that glowed with a soft, golden light. The tree was a marvel to behold, its roots deep in the earth, its leaves shimmering in the sunlight.

The Bitcoin tree was growing faster than anyone could have imagined.
One day, as the fruit ripened, Lynn realized it was time to harvest the Bitcoins. Yet she couldn’t do it alone. She needed help.

“Who will help me pick the Bitcoins and store them in the wallet?” she called out to JR, who was still absorbed in his cyber contest.

“Not I!” JR responded without looking up from his screen, a can of soda in one hand and a tablet in the other. “I’m busy!”

Lynn then turned to Kris, who was still deeply focused on his drone controllers, adjusting the flight path on his screen.

“Not I!” Kris shouted, not even glancing at her. “I’ve got to keep an eye on all these cameras!”

“Well then,” Lynn said, her voice determined, “I’ll have to do it all by myself.”

So, Lynn set to work, climbing the tree and carefully picking the ripe Bitcoin fruits. She placed them in a digital wallet she’d prepared for just this occasion. With each Bitcoin she collected, the value seemed to grow exponentially.
As Lynn worked, she felt a sense of pride. Her care, patience, and dedication had made the Bitcoin tree thrive, and now she would be rewarded for her efforts.

Soon, the Bitcoins she harvested were worth millions. The money wasn’t the only thing that filled her with joy. She had found something even more precious—a lesson in hard work, persistence, and the importance of taking the time to nurture what matters.

When JR and Kris finally finished their respective tasks, they looked up and saw what Lynn had accomplished.

“Wow, Lynn,” JR said, impressed. “You really did it! Look at all those Bitcoins!”

“Yeah, you were right about the seed,” Kris added. “I guess we should have helped you out.”

Lynn smiled at her friends. “It’s okay,” she said. “Sometimes, you’ve got to do things on your own. I’ll see you both when I return from my around the world Cruise.”
