For when the darkness is over |
I am sure your heart is crushed, The unquenchable burn, The sinking weight in your chest — I cannot even fathom. Everything you've had you've given. You've done all you can do. You didn't want this to happen, But this takes more than just you. My heart also breaks — for you. For the sorrow you carry in the shadows. For the love that once was true. For the loss you lament alone. Know there is love for you — Light waiting to heal your soul. While grief now cloaks the light of the moon; My love's light will make you whole. Right now, I can't wipe your tears. Or listen while you scream. I cannot take your hand in mine, Or hold you while you breathe. But the sorrow will diminish, Dawn leading you out of the night. When you are ready to move forward, I will be that morning light. You will question, doubt, and wonder. It's only human to ebb and flow. Scars on your heart last forever. And I'll love you because of those. I will wipe the tears away from your eyes. I will listen while you scream. I will take your hand tightly in mine, And hold you while you breathe. You will never be the same, But they say joy comes in the morning. And through life's sun, night, wind, and rain, I will be waiting to love you. |
