A soft, emotional piece about healing, holding back and finally choosing yourself.

Unsent
by JanneyWrites

I almost texted you last night.
Nothing deep- just that the sky looked like the
one we used to lie under.
But I didn't.
Not because I've stopped missing you...
but because I've started remembering myself.

I've been piecing together the girl who used to
hum in the mirror.
The one who used to dream before you made her
question
if she was too much,
or not enough,
or both.

I'm learning to love the silence again.
It doesn't echo with your name anymore.
It sings mine.

So no, I didn't text you.
But I still looked up.
And this time,
I smiled just for me.
