Kate knows Jake when she see him. 300 words

Fake False Alarm

“I’m calling the police!” insisted Kate.

“But darling, I’m your husband.”

“No, you aren’t!” she said firmly as she dialed 911.

“You’ll only embarrass yourself when they come.”

“I won’t be embarrassed when they take your away in cuffs.”

“Have it your way, Katie Did.”

She was about to answer this stranger pretending to be her Jake. A loud pounding on the door stopped her. The stranger answered the door as if he lived there.

“Officers, you’ll have to excuse my wife. She has not been herself. Here’s my picture identification. As you can see, I am Jake.”

“Ma’am, you realize making a false 911 call is a felony,” said one of the officers.

“Can I see some picture identification from you?” asked the other officer.

Going to her purse, Kate found her some proof of who she was. The officers murmured between themselves, then handed back the proofs of identity. The man let the men out.

“Now that didn’t work, did it?” The Jake that wasn’t said.

“I know you’re not my Jake. You look a little like him, but I know you’re not!”

“I can prove I am, and you can’t prove I’m not,” the stranger said.

“I don’t have to stay; I refuse to!” Kate shouted loudly.

“You aren’t going anywhere, lady!”

He grabbed her arm and twisted it.

“Yeah, my twin brother Jake was everything I’m not,” the Jake look-alike snarled.

“Jack? How did you get out of prison?”

“Jake came to see me; I hit him with a homemade stun gun; took his clothes and came here.

The door was battered down and police surrounded the suspect.

“Thanks Kate. Your report about Jake going to visit his brother and not returning, made us look twice. The scar on his ankle helped too.”
