Annabelle's costume got her a new friend 300 words |
Birds Of A Feather Annabelle looked at her costume in the mirror with satisfaction. The flapper-style dress was made of green feathers. She wore a picture hat with a large beak and eyes on it. She nodded at her reflection with a smile. She stepped into yellow heels then went out the door of her apartment. “This should win me the senior’s tropical costume party. Grass skirts and coconut bras are so passe`” she told herself as she took the elevator down to the common room. She couldn’t resist strutting down the hall. She was shocked to hear a whistle and a shriek on her left. “Hello baby! I’m Chico, wanna kiss?” She squinted over to a gilded cage with something sitting in it. With clever use of his beak, the large birdreleased himself from the cage, flew over to her, landing on her hat. “Kiss, kiss sweetie. I love you!” he squawked. Totally embarrassed, Annabelle tried waving him off frantically. He held on tight and laughed maniacally. By this time, she was dropping feathers all over the place. Very politely, Chico would drop off the hat, pick up feathers and return them to her as gifts. “You are a suave fellow, Chico,” she finally told him and blew him an air kiss. The male parrot showed off his crest and wings at her words. She laughed again as she entered the common room. The place gradually turned silent. “That’s my new parrot,” the Administrator said with shock. “He seems to have developed a romantic attachment to me,” Annabelle said apologetically. “No need! He’s been acting depressed since I got him. I guess I’ll have to look in to getting him a friend,” the admin said with a smile. “Until then, would you mind watching him until after the contest?” “Not at all, I haven’t had such an attentive suitor in years!” |
