Lyrics - not recognising the man in the mirror...

There's a man in the mirror,
Staring back at me,
An image of an image,
Of a man who isn't me.

He was younger once,
Just starting out,
Now he looks back,
And has to doubt,
What happened,
'Tween now and then?

The years etched hard, round his eyes,
Show each time he laughed,
Or cried,
And there's nothing left but grey, or skin,
Where once,
Black hair had been,
And I don't know (don't know).

Oh image of an image,
Staring back at me,
Why, oh why can't I see,
The man (the man) I used to be?

Memories flicker, confusion grows,
Like shadows dancing, they ebb and flow,
And fragments of a life, once bright.
All blurr now, flee out of sight.
And I no longer see,
The man (the man) I used to be.

So who am I beneath this skin?
This stranger's face,
That's somehow mine,
Oh where do I begin?

Am I stories told,
Or the paths I've trod,
This race I've run,
That's taken all I've got?

Oh image of an image,
Staring back at me,
Why, oh why can't I see?

No matter how I try,
In this image of an image,
The man I used to be.

The man,
The man I used to be.

In this image of an image,
The man I used to be.
