Weather or not you think so. (pun intended)

Contest Prompt

A radio news broadcast
Was the first not the last
an unusual disaster so fast
On its airwaves to blast.

Listeners didn’t believe it real
Until its effect they began to feel
Then hearts thought made of steel
Became the monster’s evening meal.

A nationwide snowstorm in July?
What a cold thought that implied.
What a way to get struck with bad luck
As planes, trains, cars, and trucks got stuck.

Friends had to depend on friends
Else it would be the living end.
It was too much for the national guard.
The snowjob hit their front and backyards.

Iceskates, skis and sleighs
Became the norm of the day
As better weather was put at bay.
Winter had come to stay.

Just as everyone got adjusted
The radio said nothing could be trusted
A solar heat storm shortly would arrive
Everyone should get ready to be half fried.

Just remember it takes us all
To handle a big crisis, or we all may fall.
If we bicker and fight we won’t last a night
And our lives will be beyond recall.
