A hungry kid adventures down to the basement in search of a snack when the lights go out.

FADE IN:

1 INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

A 10 year old KID is sitting on the couch playing a video game as he eats a bowl of popcorn that is one kernel away from being empty. The kid pops the last kernel in his mouth and looks down at the bowl realizing that it is empty. The kid gets up off the couch and walks into the kitchen.

2 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

The thunder booms outside as the kid makes his way to the brown wooden door in his kitchen. He turns the door knob and as the door begins to open the long case of stairs is revealed leading down to the basement. He flips the switch to turn the lights on.

3 INT. BASEMENT - NIGHT

The kid closes the door behind him as he walks down the stairs of the basement and reaches the end. He takes a left and grabs a box of popcorn off the shelf on the wall.

All of a sudden the lights flicker off.

The kid pauses in shock. There is a THUMP coming from his right. He runs for the staircase, but falls over the first step.

He hears another THUMP coming from behind him. He instantly gets back up and runs up the stairs. There's another THUMP, but it feels closer. Still not at the top the kid trips over another step and is now running up the stairs on his hands and legs as the THUMPING gets closer.

As he finally makes it to the top he quickly reaches for the doorknob and twists it open. As the door opens the light from the kitchen illuminates the stairway.

There was nothing there.

4 INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

The kid stands up and walks into the kitchen closing the door behind him. He catches his breath with the popcorn in hand. The door knob jiggles.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

FADE TO BLACK.
