"Oh, don't worry about them now!" Sandra reassured Olivia. "It's good to have a moment of quiet when they aren't getting underfoot all the time."
Olivia smiled, humouring the older woman. No matter how much she complained about her children, she could see that she still loved them. Olivia liked her cousins too, and messing around with them was usually the high point of the otherwise deathly dull family meetings.
"Oh, and since you like our backyard so much," Sandra continued, "why not kick off those sandals and enjoy the grass beneath your feet? It's a glorious feeling!"
Olivia shrugged, kicking off first the left and then the right sandal. She was a little over-enthusiastic however, as while one landed right in front of her toes, the other went sailing off into a thorny rose bush.
Drat! she thought to herself. Wiggling her toes, she had to admit that the grass did feel mighty fine, but she'd have to go and retrieve her errant show. Sighing, she jogged off to pick it up.
