Chapter #6

Lissa tries the staff and it fails

The blonde healer held her staff above her head and pointed it towards the tactician, and a slight glow followed as it enveloped Robin in its warmth. The Shepherds waited in an anxious silence.

Robin's stomach dropped at the sudden shatter of the staff.

"It-it didn't work." Lissa stuttered.

Robin only sighed, making her discontent known to the rest of the army.

Noticing Robin's mood, Sully spoke up, "I'm going to have to up my training regimen if I'm going to compete with you." The red head was only treated to a half hearted chuckle from the massive tactician.

"Look on the bright side," Lissa shouted, "You can carry us back to camp. No more long marches."

"I guess, at least I'll be good for something at this height."

Robin dropped her hand on the edge, but most of the Shepherds didn't board, save for Chrom, her children, and a very anxious Lissa.

"I guess the rest of you are walking back."

A second after Robin's comment, the rest of the Shepherds carefully made their way onto her palm, which was expansive enough to accommodate the soldiers with room to spare.

Robin giggled slightly at the feeling of her friends' feet on her plush pads.

She found it odd that she held a dozen lives in the palm of her hand, all at her mercy. The thought that all it took was a clenched fist to kill her friends and family sent shivers down her spine.

Keeping her eyes on the ground and her feet away from the pathways, Robin walked through the forest while making an extra effort to keep her friends stable and comfortable.

"Milady," a stern, firm voice called, breaking Robin's focus, "how will we prepare the citizens of Ylisse about their queen's... Growth spurt?"

"I don't know. As long as they understand I mean them no harm, I think it should be fine." She was uneasy, and it definitely came across in the slight waver in her voice.

Whatever she was going through was more than likely here to stay.
