Having quickly showered and dressed yourself in your Dad’s jeans, green t-shirt, black boxers and brown shoes, you called for your “sons” to hurry up so you could spend some time together. You were looking forward to this surprisingly. You had never really gotten along with your brother and you had always wanted to spend more time with your Dad so this would be a perfect opportunity. They walked into the room, apprehensive, your brother wearing jeans and a red t-shirt and black sneakers and your Dad wearing a Batman t-shirt and green shorts and runners and holding a soccer ball.
‘Get in the car, I’m driving” you said, smirking and picking up your Dad’s car keys. He never let you drive his car.
“Keep dreaming, you aren’t driving” your Dad said, folding his small arms.
“I’m the adult here so I’m driving” you said smirking and walking out the front door. Your Dad sighed and followed you, your brother not far behind. Having all gotten in the car, you spied your Dad’s prized expensive sunglasses which he never let you wear, you grinned and put them on and quickly admired yourself in the rear view mirror. You looked good. You drove to the local park. You could tell that your Dad was stressed at you driving his car, but he seemed to relax once you parked it cleanly. You must have been picking up on your Dad’s skills because you weren’t that good a driver yet. Taking off the sunglasses and getting out of the car, you looked around the park. There was a decent sized grassy area, with some trees for shade, a playground, a sun shelter and two bathrooms. The three of you made your way to a shaded area of the park, underneath some trees and sat down, in awkward silence. Your Dad hadn’t planned this far ahead. Technically being the adult, you decided to start the conversation.
“So, how did you go getting ready?” Brad shrugged his shoulders.
“It was fine” your Dad said. Silence returned. Regardless of how strange the situation was, being in each other’s bodies, the three of you rarely spent much time together and it showed. Taking initiative, you stood up and grabbed the soccer ball.
“Ok look, let’s just play some kick to kick for a while and see what happens. Bra- I mean, Andrew, go by the sun shelter. Brad, go over there” you said pointing towards trees. Grinning, your Dad stood up and ran over to where you pointed. “Andrew” reluctantly stood and wandered over towards the sun shelter. Brad had never really been too good at sports, he wasn’t particularly coordinated. You aimed a good kick to him and he intercepted the ball easily. He looked surprised. Perhaps your body’s skills were rubbing off on him. He tested himself by kicking the ball to himself a couple times and then passed it to your Dad who nearly fumbled it. Clearly Brad’s body’s lack of skill was affecting your Dad’s performance. Determined, he kicked it towards you but missed. You and Brad laughed. Your Dad looked annoyed at first but surprisingly saw the funny side of it and laughed with you and gave it another go, successfully this time. Kicking the ball to each other was fun, the most fun the three of you had had in a while. Brad clearly loved his new skills and took to showing off a little whenever he got the ball. Despite your Dad not being as good with the ball, he seemed glad that you were enjoying yourselves.
