nothing he sees is changed.

Before he opens his eyes, William feels warmth behind him. He realizes he is on a bed, apparently spooning with someone. When he opens his eyes, he sees it is Jack. They are on Greg's bed. Greg is sitting at his desk, reading the book again. When William sits up, Greg sets the book down. Jack is still asleep.

Greg asks "Are you all right?"
"What happened?"
"You guys came in to say hi and then kind of collapsed. You seemed to be breathing and everything ok so I set you down on my bed."
Something about this doesn't seem right to William, but his memory's a little fuzzy.
"Are you feeling ok?"
"I'm fine. Still a little tired, though."
William shakes Jack awake. Jack gets up and eyes Greg suspiciously, but doesn't say anything. They leave together and go back to their room, collapsing onto their respective beds.

In the morning, William gets up but finds that Jack is already up. Their room, which had been clean after just moving in, is now littered with wrappings from all kinds of junk food. William and Jack's parents had both left care packages, but William sees that Jack is now plowing through the last bag of cookies left by his mother.

"Hey!"
Jack does not look up, but continues eating. William hops out of bed and tries again.
"Hey! Quit eating those!"
Jack still does not respond, Suddenly, William feels an overwhelming hunger and has to have those cookies for himself. He grabs Jack's hand to pull the cookies away, and the hunger vanishes. Jack looks up.

"Uh... hey."
"What the hell, man? You ate everything my Mom left for me!"
"I'm sorry, I don't know what happened. I woke up this morning and I was so hungry I couldn't think of anything but food."
"That's pretty obvious," William says, pointing to the wrappers all over the room.
Jack looks around as though he's just realizing the extent of what's happened.
"Uh... I'm sorry. I'll buy you more stuff. And clean up this mess."

Jack looks truly apologetic. William is a little unnerved. It seems like Jack was totally out of his head with hunger.

"Okay, well I'm gonna go take a shower and then go to breakfast. I don't have class until 11 today. Can you clean this up while I'm out?"
"Sure."

In the shower, William is distracted, wondering what's wrong with his roommate. 'Jack seemed like a perfectly normal guy. Is this hunger just some weird quirk?' William is so engrossed in thought he doesn't notice Greg coming into the showers as well. Greg gets into the shower stall next to him and...
