By the time school let out, I had become the center of attention. The growth of my fingernails was just the icing on the cake. Once I got off the bus, I ran straight home.
When I got home, Andy and Emma were there already. "Whoa, James," Andy said, "you look a lot different."
"Don't bother me," I said, as I continued running, up the stairs and into my room. Closing the door behind me, I took off my shoes, collapsed onto my bed, and took a nap.
I dreamed that Jesse and I were playing a video game. When I won, Jesse said, "Congratulations," and kissed me. We kept on kissing, then we took our clothes off, then I lay back in bed as Jesse climbed on top of me, and we made love.
I woke up, still feeling my orgasm. I knew it was just a dream, but sitting up let me know that I had changed in my sleep. I got up and walked into the bathroom.
Closing and locking the bathroom door, I began taking off my clothes. Taking my shirt off, I saw my breasts. I turned this way and that, looking at their shape, wondering what size bra I needed now.
Taking off my pants and my underwear, I spread my legs and looked at my reflection. No doubt about it: I was now a girl.
That fact didn't fill me with terror, the way changing into a girl had all day. Now that I was completely a girl, I was okay with it.
Little hands knocked on the door, followed by a chorus of voices asking, "James, are you okay?" Two different questions, I thought.
Putting my shirt back on, since that was long enough to cover my naughty bits, I opened the door. "I'm okay, guys," I told them, "but, from now on, call me Julie."
"But Julie's a girl's name," Andy said.
"It is," I confirmed. "But I'm a girl now, so I should have a girl's name." Turning to Emma, I asked, "Are there any clothes where you found the shoes?"
"Uh-huh."
"Bring me some, would you, please? I need a top, jeans or a skirt, and some underthings. My boy clothes don't fit me anymore."
Emma left, then returned with a shirt and blue jeans. "No underthings," she said. "Sorry, Julie."
"It's not your fault, kiddo." I went back to my room to get dressed. The shirt was easy to get on, but I struggled to get the jeans on past my hips. I finally did it, though, and I exulted in my triumph.
