Chapter #7

Meeting Kane

"Hey, little one, are you alright?" Kane asked.

"I'm fine." she said, a little embarrased.

Sensing her feelings on the matter, Kane commented, "That was some bear." He walked out into the open and but his hand out to help her. "How did you ever learn how to shot like that?"

"My father."

"Your father must be some archer. He is...was, until his left arm was injured. Now I do all the hunting."

"Really," said Kane. He had never seen an archer like that before. Her speed and acurracy were incredible. "I need her talent. These men aren't that good and I need all my men for the fighting." In reality, Kane was a rebel fighting agaist the king. He knew he could never successfully pull of a coup without help. "You are good. Not that good, but you can make out okay I think."

"Who are you?"

"That's a long story, but just call me Kane. And yours would be...Mary, no?"

"No. Raven."

"Are you hungry?" Kane then suggested that they go to his camp and eat something there.
