Despite all of Star's work, Mary just doesn...

The emergency stash, which had once seemed so large and imposing, was dwindling quickly to nothingness before Star's disbelieving eyes. Family-sized bags of chips and packets of cookies flew down Mary's gullet into her ravenous belly, which, despite consuming enough calories to feed a musk ox, was still groaning in hunger, crying out for more. Star shook herself out of her amazement and raced into the kitchen, grabbing anything labeled "instant" or canned and tossing them into various pots and pans. Ramen noodles, cans of beans, soup, corn, everything that took little preparation was getting heated and seasoned to stuff into Mary. As the stove top bubbled and sizzled, Star chanced a quick look at Mary.

The stash was nearly gone. Mary was surrounded by wrappers and covered with crumbs. A healthy coating of chocolate and Oreo filling surrounded her mouth (which she was frantically stuffing more Doritos into) and her various ripples, flaps and folds were damp with sweat from her efforts. Her stomach, as if a warning to Star, let out a loud, fierce growl of pure hunger. Star quickly turned her attention back to the food, which now appeared to be done (thank goodness.) Star ladled it onto various bowls and plates and brought it out, on a large tray, to Mary. Hopefully this would be enough for now.
