Chapter #6Cooperate by: blader   (switching from 3rd to 2nd person)
You can't believe what was happening, "worst day ever" you think. You pull out you're wallet as it didn't have much and throw it to the guy who asked as well as you're useless car keys, he looks through the wallet and says "hey kid what's you're card number?" You tell him and he smiles "thanks kid, well come on guys there's no way this coward will call the cops so let's just leave him alone" he says before turning around and he follows with his partners following. You just stand there stunned "Ok so i've lost my job, my car, I just got mugged, this day totally sucks" you think starting to walk across the bridge. You make it about half way when you hear a car horn and you jump to the side seeing a car race past you, problem was this was a footbridge. You let out a sigh as you fall over the side and plunge into the river below. You try to swim but the current was too strong, you keep fighting as you didn't want to die yet but you slowly lose strength and eventually you just give up. You feel like you're lungs are on fire and you black out sure that you were gonna die.
You wake up for a bit and you feel yourself being dragged out of the river, "are you okay?" you hear a female voice ask. You're just able to moan a bit indicating you were alive but not in good shape before you black out again. You wake up again afraid out of you're mind, you look around and you're in a giant cave big enough to hold something like 20 bears and them some with room to spare during the winter months. You notice a large fire in the middle of the cave and you look around for the person that saved you. You can't see anyone but you're covered in a large yellow and white blanket, you figure it had to be 8 times you're size so 40ft long, it was a weird blanket, it looked like it was some kind of bi pedal fox and part of it was covererd in purple, and it felt like there was a pair of arms around you're back. This weird blanket even seemed to have a tail, "I really hope this isn't some weird dead animal" you think. You try to get up but the "blanket" covering you was too heavy and you swear it felt like when you moved it moved with you and the arms got tighter. "Hello" you yell trying to get the attention of that female that had saved you, you hear movement and you look around that's when you realize the movement was nearby. You look down and you're shocked as you see the tail on the blanket twitch from side to side.
"Ahh" you scream and you try to push you're way away from this creature that was on top of you. It holds you even tighter and pulls you closer rubbing the part that had been right next to you're head which you realize was it's head against you. "Ok there's got to be a way out of this" you think frantically, you reach over and rub it's side and much to you're suprise the creature lets out a giggle. You rub some more till it's gently laughing and you're able to free yourself, you run over to the fire and grab one of the sticks out of the fire hoping you can use it to hold this thing back. It stirs and stretches then looks at where you're supposed to be and you see worry spread over it's face, it looks around and when it notices you it smiles and gets up. You were right it stood 40ft tall and now that it was standing up you recognized what it was but that was impossible. It was a renamon from that digimon show you watched when you were younger but those were supposed to be fiction. It steps forward and you hold the burning stick in front of you "stay....stay back" you say but the renamon advances. You swing the branch and she easily dodges it and knocks it out of you're hands back onto the fire.
She bends down and stares at you eye to eye "don't worry little one i'm not going to hurt you" she says.
Recognizing the voice you say "wait, you're the one that saved me"
"Yes, I found you in the river, you weren't doing very well so I brought you home and took care of you" she giggles for a second "you wouldn't let go of my fur the whole time I was watching over you so I had to carry you around" she says.
"But...but that's impossible you're supposed to be fiction" you say. She reaches over and gently pokes you with 1 finger, "does this feel like fiction?" she asks.
"Well no, but why'd you save me?" you ask.
"Well I can't just leave someone to die, besides it's nice to finally have some company" she replies.
"I'm Axel" you say hesitantly reaching out a hand.
"I'm,....you know I don't think I have a name" the renamon says.
"How about Rena?" you ask starting to settle down.
"That sounds cute, i'll take it" Rena says. "Well you'll probably want to be leaving now" Rena continues.
"I think I can stay, I mean what kind of gratitude is it to just leave the girl who saved me" you say.
"Don't you have a family to get back to?" Rena asks.
"Nah I haven't spoken to my family in ages after I said I needed to spread my wings, no girlfriend, and no job so it's not like anyone's gonna come looking for me" you say. "So I can stay with you if you really need some company" you say. Rena pounces on top of you and she has a smile on her face "oh thank, thank you, it's been so lonely" she says before nuzzling you.
"So how'd you get here?" you ask.
"You know I don't know, I just remember being here with my mother and it's all i've really known" Rena says.
"Is you're mother still around?" you ask looking around.
"No, she passed a while back" Rena says.
"I'm sorry for bringing it up" you say.
"No it's ok, I have you now to keep me company" Rena says before hugging you.
"You're a very affectionate renamon" you say as she hugs you.
"Well why wouldn't I be, you're just so cute, and you were constantly trying to bury yourself into my fur before so you must like me" she says smiling. Well you had to admit she looked very cute and she did take care of you.
"Is there any food around here?" you ask.
"Oh you're hungry, well then just let me go get something for you" Rena says putting you down and running out of the cave.
"Well this isn't how I expected today to go but it could be a heck of a lot worse, warm place to stay, food and drink, and I get a giant renamon as a companion yeah this could be a lot worse" you think as you lay back. Rena comes back in a second carrying a bunch of berries, she bends down and offers you one "open up" she says.
"I can feed myself" you say sitting up and reaching for the berry but she pulls back.
"You're in my house you will follow my rules" Rena says smiling "now open up or no food." You let her feed you the berries and she smiles the whole time, "so Axel can you tell me about yourself?" Rena asks.
"There's not that much to tell, I'm just a normal guy, who got mugged today and accidentally jumped off a bridge" you say laughing a little.
"You poor thing" Rena says pulling you to her and holding you against her chest. "Don't worry i'll take care of you from now on" she says.
"I can take care of myself" you say.
"Oh hush, you don't like my hospitality?" Rena asks staring at you eye to eye and you can see the loneliness she's suffered reflected in her eyes.
"No I guess being taken care of by you wouldn't be so bad" you say hugging her. You feel one of her paws rub over you're back and you snuggle yourself into her fur. Rena gets up making sure to lift you with her, she walks over to the area you woke up on which you realize now was a bed of leaves and twigs. Rena puts you down and then slowly lays on top of you making sure not to hurt you, "Good night Axel" she says.
"Good night Rena" you say honestly happy that the events of today had happened.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
