This choice: Yeah, of course you can stay with me. • Go Back...Chapter #8Yeah, of course you can stay with me. by: Gimlet   She smiled as I agreed, her eyes welling with tears, and once more she fell in, hugging me tight.
"Oh, thank you thank you thank you!" She said, sniffling as she hugged me, her wings flapping fitfully behind her.
"Y.. you're welcome." I managed. "My name is Peter. What's yours?"
She pulled back and blinked up at me, seemingly surprised by my question. Of the people who'd met her before it seemed none had asked her name previously.
"A.. Amber." She said, sniffing again, but managing a weak smile. "Can we go home now?"
"Amber." I said, staring at the creamy brown color of her skin. Fitting. "That's a very pretty name."
She smiled wider and giggled.
"You like me?" She said. "I like you too." But she glanced warily out of the cave. It was obvious she was nervous, but eager to get out of there.
"OK, lets get going." I blink. Dang! I'm in the middle of a school trek! "Um. here, put this jacket on."
I took my jacket off and hung it around her shoulders. She looked down at it oddly.
"But, I'm not cold." She said, seemingly not an ounce of embarrassment about her nakedness existing.
"It's not for cold. I..." How much does she know? "...I have to go back to my school outing, but I don't think they'd accept.... someone like you. Someone looking different."
She gulped, looking nervous.
"W... would they hurt me?"
"Well, I don't think so, but let's not risk it. Do you have any clothes here?"
"Clothes?" She said, confused. "What're 'clothes?' "
Oh boy!
"Um, this might be tricky." You say, then stare down at her tail sticking out behind her. "Very tricky. Your wings might tuck in behind you inside the jacket, but your tail? Not sure how to hide that."
"You really are trying to help me aren't you?" She sniffed, and once more bawled, wrapping her arms around my chest once more. "I... I love you!"
