Chapter #8

HELL'S Bells

    by: Aerodeth Author IconMail Icon
And I ran and ran and dashed past all the other kids that were giving me strange looks. I didnt care what they were giving me, I was late for my first day of school! I kept looking down at my class schedule trying to find English with Mrs. Renard, Room 193, but there were quite possibly several hundred classrooms to navigate through and I couldnt find a map anywhere! Dangit, why didnt they give me a map when my folks enlisted me in this friggin school?! At least Tamamo had map signs around every corner drawn in cartoony fashion by the nine-tailed mascot herself! Ugh...

"RAWW-Hey, where ya going? I was just about to give you the Teddie welcome!"

I zipped by some kid in a smelly bear suit. I think he's the mascot of the school, but I didnt have time to confirm that at the moment. In case you couldnt tell, I AM LATE FOR SCHOOL!!!!
"C'mon, where is Room 193?!" I kept looking around every corner to no avail. I ended up going around in circles as the clock counted down, wasting valuable learning time. This was a huge waste of time. I'm as good as sunk. First day of school and already, I'm leaving a terrible first impression. I was practically ready to give up and wait for the school security team to locate me.

"Ooph!" but then I bumped into someone. It might have been a brick wall, cuz the only one that got knocked on their ass during the collision was ME! Sure, it was humiliating, but the brick wall of a woman before me made the embarrassment fade away.
A slightly taller black haired girl in a black jacket and skirt eyed down at me with concern. I took note of the purple gloves she had on as well as the black and purple striped scarf around her neck. The second I stared into her bright yellow eyes, it was next to impossible to look away. It was like I was caught in a trance.

"Oh dear!" the girl gasped as she leaned down and offered her hand, "I'm so sorry! Are you alright?"
It seemed like some out-of-worldly reason, time itself slowed down for dramatic purpose as she looked down at me with that worried look. It was so cute. So pretty. I could literally see stars flying around as I stared back.
"Uh...um... y-yeah," I finally snapped out of it and took her hand, "yeah, I'm fine." The girl was pretty strong, considering it only took one quick jerk to pick me back up off the ground.

"I... I didnt hurt you, did I?" she lowered her head in shame as she looked down a little at me, "if I did, I didnt mean to!"
"No, not at all," I assured her, "I'm fine." Man it was tough to look away from her eyes. It was hard enough to fight off a blush!
"A-Are you sure?" she was still worried for my sake, "I didnt break of your things, did I? I'll pay for new ones if I did!"
"Relax, it's ok," I kept telling her, "I really appreciate your concern, though."

Her yellow eyes glittered with relief, "I... I dont recall seeing you here before. You new?"
"Yeah," I nodded, "first day of school. My name's Flame. Nice to meet you." I offered her hand as a friendly gesture.
She looked down at my hand and smiled gently... I could almost hear a light rumbling sound somewhere.
"Nice to meet you too," she gently squeezed my hand... and if felt as though she was trying to caress it, "I'm Katherine! Kat, for short."
"Kat," I repeated. That was a cute name. "Listen Kat, I'm a little lost. I was wondering if you could help me out?"

Her eyes gleemed with a cat-like curiosity, "What is it, Flame?"
"I'm looking for Room 193," I answered, "I've English with Mrs. Renard."
"Oh! Mrs. Renard?!" something sparked in Kat's head, "I've got her class too! C'mon, I'll take you!" She grabbed my hand again and was more than ready to drag me off before I could say anything!
"Thanks, Kat!" I answered, but she was already dragging me off. Wow, was this girl strong! Not that I minded being dragged around by a pretty girl or anything like that.

"Here it is!" she dragged me all the way to a specific complex with only one room next to the PE quad, "Room 193!"
I sighed with relief, "Thanks so much, Ka-" I then stopped when I noticed that the door she was dragging me toward was marked 'Storage Room'. "Uh... Kat? Isnt that the storage room?"
She shook her head, "It used to be... our class is borrowing this room until they finish remodeling the actual Room 193." Interesting, but if that were the case, how come there are no signs or anything pointing out that Mrs. Renard's class is using this room? That's a little inconvenient for any new students or teachers looking for this class!

I wanted to ask Kat about it, but for some bizarre reason, all those questions got put in the corner the second she looked me right in the eyes. I just couldnt look away from those shiny yellow eyes. It felt like I was in a trance or something,
"C'mon, Flame," she kept staring at me as she opened the door, "we dont wanna be late."
