Chapter #6

It's my size or ill shrink it if i want too

Tyler still couldn’t believe what it was he had stowed in his backpack. it was a shrinking ray. a real, live shrinking ray! like something you’d see in comic books or in Sci fi TV shows! He didn’t think he’d ever ran that fast in his life as he dashed back to his house, all but slamming the door closed behind him and locking it. he wasted no time in tearing his backpack open to pull the device from its container, raising it up to the pale fluorescent lighting of his living room.

This time he was far less restrained and careful thant he first test. with an almost wicked grin he turned the gun on a wooden rocking chair in the corner, David’s favorite chair (Solely for the fact it barely fit him, and his weight made it creak loudly, which David knew bugged Tyler) and fired. the green beam engulfed the rocking chair, and soon it started to compact in on itself. smaller and smaller the furniture dwindled until Tyler could pick it up with a single arm instead of both.

He couldn’t help but giggle.

He was almost certain it had to be some kind of dream, after all, nothing this cool could happen in real life, right? But, dream or no, Tyler was going to enjoy it.

“Where’s your creaking now?!” He said aloud to the chair, grin growing as he aimed the gun and fired again, causing the already child sized piece of furniture to begin dwindling even smaller, shrinking down until it was sized for a toddler. then again, Tyler fired, shrinking it further... not stopping till the chair wasn’t even quite the size of a piece of doll furniture, the entire chair would fit in the palm of Tyler’s small hands, which seemed to only make him even more excited. slowly tyler started to lift his foot up, the end of his sandal hanging down from beneath his purple sole. “creak creak, stupid chair” he growled out almost sadistically, before slamming his foot down atop the chair. instantly the furniture cracked and crumbled beneath Tyler’s foot, snapping like so many matchsticks into a small pile of broken wood and debris, ground into the carpet as Tyler slowly twisted his foot back and forth atop it. God he hated that chair. David kept it around just to bug him... well not anymore. now it was just a pile of broken twigs.

Other ideas began to fill Tyler’s head, all but the obvious. He found a pair of David’s favorite tennis shoes, and shrunk them down until they were too small for even Tyler’s feet. Then, the couch that David bought because it was big enough to fit him, but was a bit too big for tyler to comfortably climb onto, he shrunk that down till it was the perfect size for him.

It wasn’t until the evening, near the time David would be getting back from practice, that the most obvious had started to dawn on Tyler. He had spent the last 30 minutes debating the ethics of it. on one hand, it was a thought so awesome, and so guiltily arousing, that he wanted to do it without hesitation. on the other hand he had no idea if he could reverse the effects of the device... the moral dilemma furthering when he starts asking himself... if he shrunk David... would he ever actually WANT to turn him back...?

The one thing that had never crossed Tyler’s mind was the device itself. why had someone thrown it out? it was understandable, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, he was far too enthralled by what the device could do to question its origin. But someone wouldn’t just throw something out like this, there had to be a reason...

what Tyler didn’t know, when he heard the door unlock, as David started to come inside, was that the ray...
