This choice: Yuya manages to summon the Magicians, only to discover a disturbing truth!  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

Summoning the Truthgazers.

    by: Eliott Author IconMail Icon
Yuya didn't exactly know what was going on, what with Ayu climbing him in such a strange way and straining his pants as much as she could, but he figured doing what she wanted - summoning his Magicians - would be good enough. Their Duel Disks didn't need Action Fields to be active, after all, just for the fun of Action Duels. What could go wrong?

"Alright, I got it!" he said, turning his Duel Disk back on and activating its duel mode. Finding the cards wasn't too hard after setting it on the touchpad, and soon he had his two new prized cards in hand. "For the sake of this demonstration, I'll summon Magician of Astromancy and Magician of Chronomancy in attack mode, ignoring their summon requirements!"

"Yaaaaay!" Ayu squealed, as the two tall magicians appeared side by side, sandwiching her a little. It was a bit strange, but she felt oddly comfortable with it... especially with that white one.

Seeing as how the little redhead had finally let go of him, Yuya let out a sigh of relief. "So, are you happy now, lil' Ayu?" he asked, and she turned to face him.

"Yeah! They're so awesome! I love 'em!" she declared, about ready to hug him again. This time, at least, Yuya managed to avoid her grasp, spinning back to where the Magicians were.

Why thank you. I'm glad to hear that, said a voice behind him.

"Oh, come on, she wasn't talking about yoooOOOOUUUU!!!" Yuya only realized the oddity when he turned around, seeing his Magician of Astromancy looking like it was talking.

That's a rude thing to say, Yuya. She specifically used 'they' and ''em' in her description. Clearly, this means she was referring to us, the Magician went on, definitely talking now.

Well, if we doubted he could hear us, I think it was misplaced, the Magician of Chronomancy said, a bit amused. Hi there, kid.

"...h-hi..." Yuya stammered, sweatdropping a little. "W-why are you guys talking?"

We're Duel Spirits who inhabit your deck, the white-garbed Magician explained. We have awakened with the sway of your pendulum, and are now watching over you.

"Watching... over me?" he repeated, before shaking his head. "Why? I don't need to be watched! Especially not by weird Duel Monsters like you two!"

He certainly needs better manners, the black-garbed Magician scoffed, but was stopped by his stargazing counterpart.

He's shocked. That's a natural response, whether we want it or not. He turned to face Yuya, who was glaring at them now. Listen. What we are about to tell you has all to do with your father.

That caught his attention. "My father? What happened to him?!"

We don't know. The timeline is... distorted, the Magician of Chronomancy explained, a bit roughly. One of my powers as a Duel Spirit is to observe the flow of time, so that I may manipulate it if necessary. This is why my power undoes Trap Cards. He closed his eyes. At some point in the past... someone has altered it. I cannot be sure of when it was, or what led to this result, but I know that it's true. And so did your father, when we last met.

"My father..." Yuya was silent, and as he took a look around, so was Ayu. Her gaze seemed a bit blanker than normal, maybe, but... "So, you're saying that you are part of my deck because of him?"

Maybe. We cannot confirm anything, anymore. The Magician of Astromancy looked a little sad, as he said this. In order to handle this distorted timeline, we've unlocked the powers of your pendulum. The obvious power you've received is Pendulum Summon, but...

"But?" Yuya asked him.

As you probably know, pendulums are used for hypnosis. Your father seems to be aware of it, as he's done his best to protect you... you won't be hypnotized by your own pendulum. Using it, however, allows you to hypnotize anyone you want, for whatever reasons you may have. Both Magicians looked a little proud, as the timegazer explained things. More importantly... your Pendulum Summoning is also capable of hypnotizing people.

"What?!" Yuya cried out, shocked. "D-does that mean that... people were only saying they liked my Duel with Strong Ishijima because they were hypnotized into it?!"

The Magician of Astromancy shook his head. No, Yuya. I won't deny that the Pendulum of the Soul may have brought forth feelings they did not originally have... or that maybe your feelings came through that way... but this is not how Pendulum Hypnosis works. He walked towards Ayu, whose smile widened. You had no command or person in mind to manipulate... so it was a random pick. This girl was the only one truly hypnotized by the beauty of the Pendulum of the Soul, and she has fallen in love with you due to it.

If Yuya had drank anything recently, it'd be the best time for a double-take. "L-l-l-l-l-l-LOVE?! Ayu?! But she"

is someone who has been affected by the timeline distortions as well, the timegazer said, coldly. Maybe this is why she is so vulnerable, and why you had to be protected as well. Strong minds can resist the true weight of the hypnotic effect, but only for so long, and a mind affected by this distortion...

Yuya didn't know what to say. Ayu was Yuzu's best friend and 'little sister'; to learn she was in love with him - that she had been hypnotized to fall in love with him... it was too much. He just fell on his butt, silent for now.

The Magician of Astromancy felt it was time to move on. Your pendulums work in the following manner. Use the Pendulum of the Soul to grasp the masses as a whole, and if you're lucky a single target will take the most of it. Use your pendulum - the one hanging from your neck - to hypnotize a single person. He nodded slightly. You cannot undo a change from the Pendulum of the Soul, and certain commands cannot be followed no matter what, but other than that...

"So... I can't fix Ayu's 'love' for me?" Yuya uttered, feeling a little exhausted.

No. Not after Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon got to her, at any rate. That made him blink.

"What does Odd-Eyes have to do with it?" he asked them, and the two Magicians suddenly looked a lot more awkward.

...there's no easy way to put it, is there? the Magician of Chronomancy asked his partner.

It doesn't seem like it.

With that, the black-garbed Magician nodded again. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is a horny bastard who wants to hump females, he explained, as bluntly as he could be.

Yuya's brain now wanted to take a nap for a while.
