Going along

Ernie gave a pat on the muzzle to Chuck. “Listen, let’s walk, I mean trot on down to the set. It will give you a chance to get used to your new body. This is going to be amazing, you’ll see. Think on this my boy. You can take any part on after this. You’ll be able to play any part. No, more having the wrong look. With this trinket you can become anything you desire.”

Charles snorted as walked alongside his treacherous agent. He thought about knocking him over and trying to use the medallion again but he thought better of doing that. What if there were a trigger word? He tried to think back, did Ernie say anything to activate it. No, best to wait and hope that Ernie would turn him back. And what he said was true he could out act anyone. The journey ended up being short. He couldn’t imagine Ernie walking far anyway. An outdoor setting in a grassy field.

Ernie walked up to the man in charge who eyed him with distrust. Must know him. “This the horse you were walking about? Since when do you deal in animal performers?”

Ernie with the smoothness of a practised liar, “You gotta diversify and you know I never pass a good opportunity.”

The man paused for a moment before saying, “Okay Ernie, let’s see what your wonder horse can do. What do you call him?”

Ernie grinned, “You got it Trev, Chuck come on over.” Trevor could of sworn he saw a scowl on the horse. Charles trotted up with a bit of attitude. “How about you spin around.” Rolling his eyes he followed a series of simple commands.

Trevor said, “Looks like he is up to it. You’ll come back for him tomorrow, we should be done with him by then. Just a few scenes.” Charlie jerked his head this looking for rescue from Ernie who pocketed an envelope of cash and a sure, sure back tomorrow.

Ernie hurried off as a Chuck was wrangled and a saddle placed on him. Charles became shocked seeing the swaying form of Anna coming toward him. “Aren’t you a handsome fellow.” The soft stroke of her hand soothed him. She mounted him before he knew what happened. She felt light on his back. “Let’s see if we can get this right on the first try big guy.”

Taking him to a gallop they circled the field while the cameras caught B roll. Then she guiding him into straight at one of the cameras before breaking off at the last minute.

“Perfect” Trevor said, “That is going to look amazing. Thank you for helping at the last minute. I didn’t know anyone else that could ride.”

Anna smiled warmly, “You’re paying me. That is the best thank you that I can think of.” Laughing as she unsaddled Charles. “Toss me a towel so I can give him a rub down.” Wiping down the sheen of sweat from his body. “Say do you know if this guy is for sale? I have been meaning to get a new horse since Empress passed.”

“It’s Ernie, he’d sell his mother if he thought he could get anything for her.” Trevor said sharing a laugh with Anna.
