Alex let out a gasp as he saw himself in the mirror and nearly fell off the stood. As he did his shirt slipped right off his shoulders and nearly fell off him completely. Alex managed to grab the shirt and hold it at his waistline to keep himself from being completely naked, but he was still shocked.
He was indeed still shrinking and getting smaller, but that wasn't all that was happening. The Bats-R Ray was capable of more than just changing the size of things. It could move a person along their personal timeline making them younger or older. As Alex stared at the half naked boy in the mirror, he saw staring back at him who couldn't be older than 14. Two years younger than he was supposed to be. He was both shrinking smaller and getting younger. The combination of the two resulted in him being small enough that he couldn't even keep his shirt on properly and had to hold it up to his waist to avoid being naked.
With some difficulty Alex managed to climb down from the chair. His shirt hindered him at every moment as it constantly got tangled up in his legs, but as the very last article between him and being completely naked he refused to abandon it. He got onto the floor quickly, well as quickly as he could explored the lab looking for a measuring tape. He found one, and upon measuring himself learned he was only about a foot and a half now. He had lost a whole foot of height from the combination of shrinking and regressing in age. He was probably down to 13 or 12 years of age by this point too.
Alex took a deep breath. The Bats-R Ray could reverse this easily enough, he just had to get to it, but he wasn't sure how well that was going to go on his own. He wasn't sure how young or small he was going to get, and he imagined if he wound up as a foot tall toddler taking the stairs down to the first floor might prove troublesome. He really wished that he had someone to go with him so that if he got into trouble he'd be fine.
He supposed he could wait in the lab till a teacher or another student showed up, but that came with its own risks. He thought for a moment what it would be like if his teacher came into the lab and saw little baby as small as a mouse on the floor. He wouldn't exactly be able to explain things very well in that state. Maybe he was worrying over nothing, he might not get that small or young, but the problem is he really didn't show. He wasn't supposed to get younger at all, or shrink under two and a half feet.
He needed to decide if it was more dangerous to go alone, or to wait for someone despite the ray's effects.
